During the night of December 3 and early morning of December 4, according to quick statistics, heavy rains combined with flood discharge from irrigation reservoirs caused more than 2,000 houses in the eastern part of Lam Dong province to be flooded, nearly 250 fishing boats were damaged; of which, Luong Son and Lien Huong communes were the most severely affected.

On the morning of December 4, the working delegation of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee led by Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, inspected the flood situation and deployed response and incident handling work in the eastern area of ​​the province including Lien Huong commune, Long Song lake, Ham Thuan commune, Ham Liem commune, Ham Thang ward .

According to initial information, the upstream area of ​​Luy River experienced prolonged heavy rain , large water flow causing floods and inundation of residential areas in Luong Son commune, damaging equipment, household items, and causing damage to livestock, poultry, and crops.

Song Luy commune has many houses deeply flooded.

The highest flood peak measured at Song Luy Hydrological Station in the early morning of December 4 was 29.15m; exceeding the second alarm level by 0.65m. In Luong Son commune, water flooded about 794 houses in 10 villages, damaged more than 1,200 items, with an estimated loss of about 9 billion VND.

In addition, about 65 hectares of various vegetables, fruit trees, and traffic routes were also damaged, worth more than 5 billion VND. The landslide on the banks of the Luy River, with a length of more than 800m, affected people's housing and production, with an estimated cost of more than 10 billion VND.

Not far away, the People's Committee of Lien Huong commune informed that the locality had 13 boats sunk; 25 boats had their anchors broken and drifted; about more than 100 hectares of agricultural land on the banks of Long Song river were flooded more than 1.5 meters deep. Up to now, about more than 1,000 households were flooded from 1 to 1.5 meters deep. The total initial estimated damage was more than 30 billion VND.

Many fishing boats were swept away by the current.

In addition, 300 households in Ham Liem commune were flooded; 50 households in Ham Thuan commune were deeply flooded, and further evacuation is underway. In addition, about 250 ships in the province have sunk or drifted out to sea, requiring urgent handling and rescue.

Lien Huong commune was deeply flooded.

Currently, the flood situation is still ongoing, flood water on rivers and streams is still maintained at high flow. Therefore, localities continue to urgently direct relevant units to continue monitoring the rain situation, flood developments in the commune and coordinate with upstream communes to inform flood situation, to promptly advise and propose measures to prevent, respond and overcome consequences in a timely manner.
