Spreading the movement "Veterans learn and follow Uncle Ho"

(GLO)- Implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, in recent times, Veterans Associations at all levels in the province have created widespread influence and achieved many positive results.

Mr. Pham Manh Hung - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association - said: In order for Directive No. 05-CT/TW to truly spread widely and achieve many positive results, the Associations at all levels in the area have organized the study and dissemination of 10 topics by the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Education Department (now the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department) and 10 topics of the Central Committee to 100% of members and veterans. At the same time, more than 600 news and articles about good people and good deeds have been published on mass media for cadres and members to study and follow.

Along with that, the provincial Association of War Veterans compiled and issued nearly 20,000 copies of documents to promote typical advanced examples and good measures and experiences in "studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style". In particular, many association organizations have built and replicated good practices and typical models in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nga - Chairman of the Association of War Veterans in Dak Doa district - informed: Based on the guidance of the superiors, the Association has linked the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style with the movement "Exemplary Veterans". In particular, focusing on promoting typical economic models for members to learn from; at the same time, implementing activities to support members in economic development such as: helping with preferential loans, organizing tours of typical economic models, sharing production experiences. Thereby, promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", arousing the awareness of self-effort to develop the economy in each member and war veteran. Up to now, the whole Association has 57 farms, 833 households owned by members; many models bring in an income of 2-3 billion VND/year.

"From 2019 to now, officials and members in the district have donated over 1.1 hectares of land, contributed nearly 1.4 billion VND, participated in 11,625 working days of infrastructure construction, contributed with the State to help 19 members eliminate temporary houses, effectively maintain 11 models of "Accompanying children to school"; sponsored 12 students in difficult circumstances and supported many poor members to develop the economy and escape poverty" - Mr. Nguyen Van Nga informed.

Meanwhile, in Chu Puh district, Mr. Chu Xuan Toan - Chairman of the District Veterans Association - informed: Over the past 10 years, the Association at all levels has effectively maintained the operations of 45 groups with 352 loyal members ready to take on assigned tasks related to ensuring security and order in the area. At the same time, more than 350 cadres and members have been mobilized to coordinate with the police force to patrol, raid, mobilize,educate criminals, reform criminals, social evils, ensure rural security; participate in reconciling 72 conflicts in the community. In particular, the Association effectively implemented the models of "5 no's", "4 no's", 8+1" associated with the model of "Camera light and security bell". On that basis, the Association at all levels mobilized people, especially ethnic minority households, not to violate the law, not to be infected with HIV, not to be addicted to drugs. At the same time, it helped 68 reformed subjects; mobilized over 950 million VND to coordinate the installation of 460 cameras, 3,800 lighting bulbs and arranged 17 security bells in 16 villages...

"In addition to participating in ensuring security and order, the Association at all levels also participated in the "Fund for the Poor" of the district with over 225 million VND; contributed 350 million VND with departments and branches to eliminate temporary houses for 21 members (total value of nearly 1.5 billion VND); supported poor members with over 5,000 seedlings and 1,000 hectares; mobilized members to help each other borrow over 2 billion VND with low interest rates or no interest. Thanks to that, many members overcame difficulties to develop the economy. The rate of poor members decreased from 10.5% (in 2016) to 0.5% and the rate of well-off and rich households increased from 44.3% (in 2016) to 45.6% by the end of 2024" - Mr. Toan affirmed.

Talking to us, Mr. Pham Manh Hung added: Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's example, morality and style in conjunction with the implementation of the "Exemplary Veterans" movement has become a driving force to help members and veterans strive to overcome difficulties and develop the economy. Up to now, the number of well-off and wealthy families of war veterans has increased by 36.38%, while the number of poor households has decreased to 3.76%. In particular, members have created jobs for 14,622 workers, contributed over 1.9 billion VND and mobilized more than 7.62 billion VND from other sources to build 385 "Comradely Love" houses for members, war veterans and families with meritorious services; Contributing to various funds reaching tens of billions of VND, donating land, working days and funds for new rural construction worth tens of billions of VND... Thereby, contributing with the authorities at all levels to successfully implement the resolutions of Party committees at all levels on economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, ensuring security in the locality and directly contributing to the work of Party building and rectification, building the political system, and building strong Associations at all levels.
