Spread the spirit of learning and following Uncle Ho's example

The Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Festival 2024, which opened on November 12th, features five works on the theme of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's example, submitted by five participating units.

Participating in the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Festival, the play "Comrade" by the Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Association attracted public attention because it dealt with a traditional revolutionary theme told from the perspective of contemporary people.

Bringing positive energy

The play "Comrade" - written by Le Thu Hanh and directed by People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau - addresses the moral decay of a segment of officials who once called each other "comrade."

"Through refined dramatic language and beautiful imagery of exemplary individuals in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style, the play 'Comrade' has conveyed positive energy to the audience," director Chanh Truc commented.

In addition, the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Festival also features many noteworthy plays such as: "That Day at the Gate of Heaven" (Trinh Kim Chi Theatre), "The Fiery Field" (Quoc Thao Theatre), "Aspiration for Peace " (Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theatre), "The Innocent White Flowers" (New Impression Media and Entertainment Co., Ltd.)... The plays competing at the festival also tell stories that highlight exemplary individuals in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's example; new factors that need to be promoted in social life.

Experts praised the professional creative team for their efforts in immersing themselves in reality to explore and execute themes through vivid aspects of life. "I expect that the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Festival will see many more new plays that will captivate audiences like 'Ancient Traces' or 'Sacred Wish' did before," artist Chánh Trực expressed.

Boosting creative work and promotion.

Architect Nguyen Truong Luu, Chairman of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Ho Chi Minh City, believes that in order to promote the creation and dissemination of works on the theme of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, in the coming time, Party committees and authorities at all levels need to pay attention to and create conditions for artists and writers to access exemplary models and effective methods.

The Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Literature and Arts Associations has proactively coordinated and organized field trips for its members to explore, learn, and create. Media outlets, cultural institutions at all levels, and performing arts organizations, both public and private, have also intensified efforts to introduce outstanding works of art.

"Artists and writers need to proactively stay close to social life, especially visiting 'red addresses' – places with people and historical revolutionary events. Through the perspective of the younger generation of writers, there will be many excellent works about learning from and following the example of Uncle Ho," architect Nguyen Truong Luu hoped.

Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's online news portal introduced to the public five award-winning musical works on the theme "Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh." These works are: "Offering Him a Thousand Flowers of Victory" (composer Cham Hong Giang), "Whispers of May" (music: Huu Xuan, lyrics: Le Tu Le), "A Silent Shining Example" (Le Anh Tu), "The Moon in Uncle Ho's Poetry" (Phan Long), and "The Cham People Remember Uncle Ho's Gratitude" (Le Phuc).

In November 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, organized an exhibition of artworks on the theme "Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh" at the City Fine Arts Association. The exhibition displayed 8 award-winning artworks on this theme.

People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "A large number of people came to admire the works of art, encouraging the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style. Through this, they contribute to building a city named after President Ho Chi Minh that is increasingly prosperous, civilized, modern, and compassionate."

The Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Association recently organized "Dialogue Space: Plays and the Public." This event aimed to promote and publicize literary and artistic works on the theme of "Studying and Following the Ideology, Morality, and Style of Ho Chi Minh."

This dialogue space is held once a month, with the participation of representatives from various relevant departments and sectors, to encourage artists and writers to invest their time and intellect in creating excellent and valuable works on the theme of studying and following the example of President Ho Chi Minh.
