During the meeting, Deputy General Director Tran Minh Hung announced the results of the inauguration and handover ceremony of the Xaysomboun Provincial Radio and Television Station project and the project to invest in upgrading technology equipment at the Lao National Radio Station.
These are two of many projects using non-refundable aid from the Vietnamese Government to the Lao Government, implemented by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) as the project owner.
Lao Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun cordially received the delegation from the Voice of Vietnam Radio, led by Deputy Director General Tran Minh Hung.
Deputy Director General Tran Minh Hung also outlined some aspects of the organization and structure of the Voice of Vietnam Radio, as well as the long-standing cooperative relationship between the Voice of Vietnam Radio and the Lao National Radio; affirming that he will continue to promote the cooperative relationship between the two stations to further develop and support Laos in improving professional expertise in the field of broadcasting.
Lao Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoon warmly welcomed the Vietnam Voice Radio delegation to Laos; he highly appreciated the results of the two projects implemented by Vietnam Voice Radio, which have contributed to fostering the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and Laos and Vietnam.

The Lao Deputy Prime Minister expressed his wish that the Voice of Vietnam and the Lao National Radio would continue to cooperate closely, strengthen information exchange, share experiences in the field of broadcasting, as well as train and develop Lao reporters, editors, and technicians.
Also this morning (January 30th), the inauguration and handover ceremony of the project "Investment in upgrading technological equipment at the Lao National Radio Station" took place.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy General Director Tran Minh Hung affirmed that the project not only contributes to the development and strengthening of the infrastructure and broadcasting network of the Lao National Radio Station in the territory of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, but also contributes to raising public awareness, strengthening cultural exchange domestically and internationally, and expanding the dissemination of information and propaganda on the policies and guidelines of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the State of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the people.
Deputy Director General Tran Minh Hung expressed confidence that, once operational, the project will create a strong impetus for the development of communication work for the Lao National Radio Station in particular and the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism in general.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Phosy Keomanivong stated that the "Investment in Technological Equipment Upgrades at Lao National Radio" project is part of Laos's strategy for developing journalism and media until 2025. This strategy aims to develop and build a high-quality, modern, fast, accurate, and timely Lao press; to continue making the Lao press a sharp voice of the Party and State, both in depth and breadth, diversifying its content, and serving as a comprehensive source of information and knowledge.
Deputy Minister Phosy Keomanivong stated that, although completed and put into operation, it will still face many difficulties and challenges such as maintenance and proper utilization to ensure the provision of diverse information and the production of high-quality radio programs to serve the community.
On behalf of the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Phosy Keomanivong expressed gratitude to the Party and Government of Vietnam, the Voice of Vietnam, the Lao-Vietnam and Vietnam-Lao Cooperation Committees, and the Lao and Vietnamese companies that contributed to the completion of the project. At the same time, Deputy Minister Phosy Keomanivong pledged to receive, utilize, and preserve the project to its maximum benefit, serving as a sharp and key voice of the Party and State in disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations.
The project "Investment in upgrading technological equipment at the Lao National Radio Station" was implemented by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in coordination with the Voice of Vietnam from 2019 to 2023 with a total investment of over 207 billion VND.
The project scope includes: a 20 kW FM radio broadcasting system and synchronized auxiliary equipment; a program production system: an OnAir studio for live broadcast of talk shows; three studios for program editing and production (including a general radio studio, a studio for ethnic language radio broadcasting, and a studio for international radio broadcasting); a news studio; an automated radio studio; a music program studio; an IP technology control system; a production, broadcasting, and archiving management system; equipment for reporters and online broadcasting via the Internet; and a power supply system and synchronized auxiliary equipment.
In addition, the project also includes the renovation of sound equipment in the recording studios and the repair of the broadcasting systems at the relay station in Luang Prabang and the relay station in Champasack.
