On the morning of September 6, in Hanoi, the British Embassy held a press conference to launch the UK Festival series in Vietnam. This event marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UK and Vietnam, demonstrating the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Accordingly, the event will be held at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Hanoi on September 9 and 10 with many unique cultural activities.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Iain Frew - British Ambassador to Vietnam - said that the relationship between the UK and Vietnam is becoming closer with many potentials for bilateral cooperation in the coming years. This UK Festival in Vietnam will be a bridge for the two countries to celebrate 50 years of friendly and long-term cooperation.
Featuring over 60 different stalls, the UK Festival aims to celebrate the diverse collaborations between the two countries, as well as the richness of the UK's culture and arts.
Ms. Huong Tra - Strategic Management Director of the UK Festival in Vietnam said that with a series of attractive activities, the festival will bring many opportunities to explore the contributions and deep connections of the UK with Vietnam.
According to Ms. Tra, the event will be held in 3 cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, the festival will also introduce some special British cuisine. Some Vietnamese publishers will also have representatives participating with special works.
"On stage, interspersed with performances by foreign artists are songs like Di cach, Trong com ... with strong Vietnamese cultural features that are also played," Ms. Tra revealed.
Accordingly, the festival will feature the 911 group - a legendary band from the UK and performances by famous Vietnamese singers such as My Anh and Orange, talented DJs Johnny Hong Mao and MinDaniel... Another highlight of the festival is the cultural night with a symphony orchestra and a fashion show, subtly demonstrating the creativity of Vietnamese and UK artists.
Singer Jimmy Constable of the band 911 said that in February this year, the band collaborated with singer Duc Phuc on the song "I agree" . Thanks to this song, foreign artists have had many opportunities to interact with Vietnamese audiences and are very happy to be welcomed here.
"This is the fourth time we have returned to Vietnam to participate in the UK Festival. The Vietnamese audience is very friendly, we are happy to be treated like family. We have met Duc Phuc and found him young but very talented. We will perform with My Anh and will have special performances with a female artist from Vietnam," said a representative of the 911 group.
After Hanoi, the UK Festival will travel to Ho Chi Minh City on September 16 and Da Nang on October 16. This is a great opportunity to help deepen bilateral relations, enhance understanding and spark innovative dialogue across a wide range of sectors.
