The exchange event promises to bring a cultural space for book lovers in Ho Chi Minh City. Here, readers will have the opportunity to meet and exchange directly with poet Nguyen Quang Thieu - Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association about the role of reading in nurturing thinking and language development in children. Also within the framework of the program, GDVN Publishing House will introduce to Vietnamese readers the series Papelucho - a classic work of children's literature and Chilean culture.
At the event, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu will discuss with readers and parents the current state of reading culture. The conversation will revolve around many issues of concern such as: why children are increasingly losing interest in books; how children's language and imagination are being affected by the digital environment and modern lifestyle; as well as how to build sustainable reading habits from the stage when children form linguistic thinking.
With experience in writing, researching literature and many years of promoting reading culture, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu promises to bring practical perspectives, helping parents understand their role in being closer to and understanding their children more and accompanying them through each page of a book.
The highlight of the program is the sharing of practical suggestions for parents. Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu will present experiences and methods to help: Turn reading into joy ( guide to choose books suitable for age, interests and turn reading time into "golden hours" to connect the family) and Develop writing skills ( encourage children to express their thoughts and feelings through writing diaries or writing short stories).

In particular, at this event, NXBGDVN will introduce to readers the series Papelucho by Chilean writer Marcela Paz.
The Papelucho series, published by the Vietnam Education Publishing House, consists of 12 volumes that tell everyday stories through the innocent and emotional perspective of Papelucho – an 8-year-old Chilean boy, mischievous, humorous but kind and with a rich imagination. Papelucho's diary entries record his thoughts, experiences and even childhood secrets, creating a classic children's work loved in Chile and many other countries.

Author Marcela Paz has created the character of Papelucho not according to the stereotype of “good child, good student”, but as real as any child: knowing how to be angry, knowing how to argue, and always longing to be loved and understood. The diary format makes the series close, easy to read and inspires children to write their own stories.
With its lively and natural storytelling, Papelucho gives the feeling of reading a real child's diary. The series opens up a world of authentic childhood, where children's thoughts are respected and listened to, and at the same time becomes an inspirational companion for young readers in Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh - General Director of Vietnam Education Publishing House shared: “Papelucho with its diary format and vivid characters will be a valuable companion for Vietnamese students, inspiring them to write their own stories.”
The series also shows that when children are free to write and imagine in their own words, they can create authentic and vibrant stories.
From November 28, 2025, the first three volumes of Papelucho are available at the FAHASA Bookstore system. Parents and children can go to the bookstores in the system to start their inspirational reading journey and follow the progress of the release of the entire 12 volumes.
This exchange event with poet Nguyen Quang Thieu promises to bring readers many interesting experiences, new perspectives and also an opportunity to recognize the importance of nurturing the soul and language of future generations through the pages of books.
In addition to the exchange activities, the organizers also arranged a game area for children with many challenges and attractive gifts. The event promises to attract a large number of parents, book lovers and people working in culture and education.
The event will take place at 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2025 at FAHASA Tan Dinh Bookstore - 1st Floor, 387 - 389 Hai Ba Trung Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
