Similar to phase 1, phase 2 of the SEA V.League 2025 (Southeast Asian Women's Volleyball Championship) did not witness any surprises after the first two days of competition.
Having easily defeated the Philippines 3-0 in their opening match, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team repeated the same result in their match against Indonesia on the afternoon of August 9th.
Despite coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet not fielding his strongest lineup at times, the Vietnamese women's team still proved superior and secured a dominant victory after 1 hour and 13 minutes of competition.
Thanks to their impressive results, Bich Tuyen and her teammates helped Vietnamese women's volleyball make history, reaching the 23rd position in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) world rankings for the first time.
According to the latest update, the Vietnamese women's team has a total of 152.37 points, only about 8 points behind Thailand (ranked 21st). Before the start of the SEA V.League 2025, the Vietnamese women's team was ranked 26th in the world.
The opportunity for advancement and the creation of new historical milestones will come for Coach Tuan Kiet's team at 7:00 PM on August 10th, when the Vietnamese women's team will once again face the Thai women's team in a match that will determine the championship winner. In the first leg of the tournament held in Thailand, both teams created a very dramatic "final" match.
Despite playing away from home and being considered the underdog, Lam Oanh and her teammates started strongly, constantly pushing the home team into a chasing position.
But the resilience of the Thai team helped them successfully turn the tide. After leveling the score at 2-2, coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai's players won 15-11 in the decisive fifth set.
In this rematch, the Vietnamese women's team will have the advantage of playing at home, cheered on by a crowd of fans in red at the Ninh Binh Provincial Gymnasium.
Will Coach Tuan Kiet and his team successfully avenge their previous defeat and help the Vietnamese women's volleyball team beat Thailand for the first time in history to claim the regional championship?
The "final" volleyball match of the second leg of the SEA V.League 2025 between the Vietnamese women's team and the Thai women's team is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM on August 10th.
If unable to attend the stadium, fans can watch and cheer via live television broadcasts or online platforms of Vietnam Cable Television (VTVcab).
