A series of streets in Ho Chi Minh City will be named after famous leaders.

(NLĐO) - Ho Chi Minh City is seeking opinions on naming some national highways and major projects after leaders such as Do Muoi, Le Duc Anh, Le Kha Phieu, Phan Van Khai, etc.


The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has recently sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to solicit opinions on naming streets and public works, and adjusting route alignments in the city.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City plans to name 4 national highways, 11 existing roads, 2 public works, and adjust the routes of 2 roads.

Specifically, the city plans to name the section of National Highway 1, from the Thu Duc intersection (formerly Station 2 junction) to the An Suong intersection, in Thu Duc City and District 12, after Do Muoi Street. The road is over 21,000 meters long and has a width of 120 meters.

The proposed name for National Highway 22, from An Ha Bridge to the border of Tay Ninh province, in Cu Chi district, is Phan Van Khai Street.

The street is named Le Duc Anh Street for the section of National Highway 1, from the An Suong intersection to the An Lac roundabout, located in District 12, Hoc Mon District, and Binh Tan District. The road is over 14,200m long and has a width of 120m.

The proposed name for the section of National Highway 1, from the An Lac roundabout to the border with Long An province, in Binh Tan district and Binh Chanh district, is Le Kha Phieu Street. The road is over 9,400 meters long and has a width of 120 meters.

The proposed name for National Highway 1K, the section from National Highway 1 to the border of Binh Duong province, within Thu Duc City, is Hoang Cam Street. The road is over 1,800 meters long and has a width of 60 meters.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City plans to name National Highway 22, the section from National Highway 1 to An Ha Bridge, located in Hoc Mon District and District 12, after Le Quang Dao. The road is over 10,000 meters long and has a width of 60 meters.

The proposed name for National Highway 22, from An Ha Bridge to the border of Tay Ninh province, in Cu Chi district, is Phan Van Khai Street. The road is over 20,000 meters long and has a width of 120 meters.

On National Highway 50, Ho Chi Minh City plans to name the section from Nhi Thien Duong Bridge to the border with Long An province, located in District 8 and Binh Chanh District, as Van Tien Dung Street. The road is nearly 11,000 meters long and has a width of 40 meters.

Regarding public works, Ho Chi Minh City plans to name the park in front of the Reunification Hall (Independence Palace) as April 30th Park. This public work covers an area of ​​over 3.5 hectares, located in Ben Nghe Ward, District 1; bordered by Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Han Thuyen - Cong Truong Cong Xa Paris - Pham Ngoc Thach - Alexandre de Rhodes streets.

Additionally, the bridge currently tentatively named Diamond Island Bridge, located on Tran Quy Kien Street in Thu Duc City, has been proposed to be named Tran Quy Kien Bridge. It is over 291 meters long and 18 meters wide.

In a document seeking the opinion of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ho Chi Minh City proposed a plan to renumber 11 currently numbered roads in District 12 and Tan Phu District. The city plans to adjust the route of Dam Than Huy Road and Nguyen Xuan Khoat Road in Tan Phu District.
