On September 13th, Ms. Mai Thi Xuan, Principal of Hoang Le Kha High School in Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province, announced that the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee recently decided to change the school's name from Hoang Le Kha High School to Hoang Le Kha High School, after 32 years of confusion.

"We are delighted that our long-held wish for a school named after the martyr and hero of the People's Armed Forces, Hoang Le Kha, has come true," Ms. Xuan said.

Following the decision to change the name, the school widely informed students, parents, and the public, and adjusted the necessary procedures in accordance with regulations.

According to Ms. Xuan, in 1992, when collecting documents to name the school after the martyr and hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Le Kha, the authorities based their decision on the family's Certificate of Recognition for Service to the Fatherland, which stated Hoang Le Kha, and therefore named the school Hoang Le Kha.

After many years, the relatives of the fallen soldier discovered that the school's name was incorrect, so they requested a review and a name change.

On June 17th, after consolidating the necessary documents, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a decision to change the name of Hoang Le Kha High School to Hoang Le Kha High School.

Hoang Le Kha High School, formerly Trung Son High School, was established in 1981 and is located in Ha Toai commune (Ha Trung district).

In 1992, the school was moved to Do Len town (now Ha Trung town, Ha Trung district) and renamed Hoang Le Kha High School.

Recently, the school moved to a new, spacious location in Yen Son commune (Ha Trung district) with a total investment of nearly 79 billion VND.

Martyr and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Le Kha, whose real name was Hoang Le Can, was born on February 17, 1917, in Trang Cac village, Ngo Xa commune (now Trang Cac sub-district, Ha Trung town, Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province).

In 1931, Hoang Le Can began participating in the revolution and studying in Hanoi . In 1936, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party. In 1940, the Party assigned him to work in Southern Vietnam.

During his participation in the revolution, he held important positions in the former Gia Dinh province and Tay Ninh province. In August 1959, he was captured by the enemy. In the early morning of March 12, 1960, he was secretly executed by guillotine in Tam Hap hamlet (now Suoi Muon hamlet, Thai Binh commune, Chau Thanh district, Tay Ninh province).

Martyr Hoang Le Kha was awarded the Certificate of Recognition for Service to the Fatherland by the Prime Minister in 1978; posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President in 1997; and posthumously awarded the First-Class Independence Order by the President in 1997.
