On September 13, Ms. Mai Thi Xuan, Principal of Hoang Le Kha High School, Ha Trung District, Thanh Hoa Province, said that recently the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa Province decided to change the name from Hoang Le Kha High School to Hoang Le Kha High School, after 32 years of confusion.

"We are very happy because our long-standing wish and desire for a school named after Martyr and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Le Kha has come true," said Ms. Xuan.

After the decision to change the name, the school also widely announced to students, parents and people, and adjusted the necessary procedures according to regulations.

According to Ms. Xuan, in 1992, when collecting documents as a basis for naming the school after Martyr, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Le Kha, the authorities based on the family's Certificate of National Merit which stated Hoang Le Kha, so they named the school Hoang Le Kha.

After many years, the martyr's relatives discovered that the school's name was incorrect, so they requested to check and change the school's name.

On June 17, after consolidating the documents, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province decided to change the name from Hoang Le Kha High School to Hoang Le Kha High School.

Hoang Le Kha High School, formerly Trung Son High School, was established in 1981 and is located in Ha Toai commune (Ha Trung district).

In 1992, the school was moved to Do Len town (now Ha Trung town, Ha Trung district) with the name Hoang Le Kha High School.

Recently, this school has moved to a new, spacious location, built in Yen Son commune (Ha Trung district) with a total investment of nearly 79 billion VND.

Martyr, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Le Kha's real name is Hoang Le Can, born on February 17, 1917, in Trang Cac village, Ngo Xa commune (now Trang Cac sub-region, Ha Trung town, Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa province).

In 1931, Mr. Hoang Le Can began participating in the revolution and studying in Hanoi . In 1936, he was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party. In 1940, he was assigned by the Party to work in the South.

During his participation in the revolution, he held important positions in the former Gia Dinh province and Tay Ninh province. In August 1959, he was captured by the enemy. In the early morning of March 12, 1960, he was secretly executed by guillotine in Tam Hap hamlet (now Suoi Muon hamlet, Thai Binh commune, Chau Thanh district, Tay Ninh province).

Martyr Hoang Le Kha was awarded the Certificate of National Merit by the Prime Minister in 1978; posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President in 1997; and posthumously awarded the First Class Independence Medal by the President in 1997.
