After 7 years of implementing the conversion according to the Law on Cooperatives 2012, Diep Nong Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative has continuously made efforts and achieved positive results in production and business activities, increasing income for members.
The cooperative currently has 5,038 members with a total agricultural production land area of 504 hectares, including: 337 hectares of land for two rice crops, 110 hectares of specialized land, 35 hectares of land for perennial crops in residential areas...
Identifying the development of agricultural commodity production as a key content to increase farmers' income, the Cooperative has organized the planning of planting areas, production of rice, vegetables, winter crops on rice and colored land according to the crop structure, signed contracts with enterprises to purchase agricultural products for members.
Diep Nong (Hung Ha, Thai Binh) is a locality with a movement to produce seedlings with high economic efficiency.
With a large area of riverside alluvial land, a favorable geographical location for transporting and trading goods; hard-working, creative members with experience in production and labor; and guidance and support from all levels, the cooperative has boldly transformed the crop structure, introduced new crops with high economic value into production, and linked production and product consumption with businesses, initially bringing positive results. Since 2014, the cooperative has linked with businesses to produce sweet corn, peanuts, millet, cucumbers, carrots, etc. with an area of 150 hectares in the spring crop, 130 hectares in the summer crop, and 300 hectares in the winter crop.
Mr. Khuong Minh Duyen, Director of the Cooperative, said: In recent years, the Cooperative has strengthened its leadership, direction, and guidance for people to implement production projects. In addition, it regularly pays attention to training, transferring science and technology, consolidating regional and field embankments, important irrigation works, and fully preparing rice seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to provide timely to people.
From 2020 to 2023, the Cooperative has dug and filled 25,667m3 of internal irrigation, dredged 45,000m of water flow, built 1,400m of internal canals with a total cost of nearly 3.9 billion VND. Installed 80 ball culverts of various types to conduct water, and concreted 3,150m of internal roads according to new rural criteria.
Diep Nong Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative (Hung Ha, Thai Binh) is building an OCOP brand for local red peanut products.
Every year, the cooperative supplies 4 tons of seeds, 22 tons of various fertilizers; does a good job of field sanitation; closely directs plant protection work; maintains a rice growing area of 337 hectares, with a stable rice yield of 13 tons/ha/year.
As a locality with a tradition in the winter crop production movement with an area of 370 hectares/year, every year the cooperative develops plans, assigns targets to villages and has a mechanism to support new crops such as support for land preparation for potato planting, partial support for soybean and vegetable seeds... thereby promoting the movement each year higher than the previous year.
The cooperative also focuses on developing livestock in the direction of farms and ranches, bio-safety. Currently, the whole commune has 77 farms and ranches, a total herd of nearly 11,000 pigs, 46,000 poultry, 369 buffaloes and cows, and 50 hectares of aquaculture.
Taking advantage of the Luoc River bank, Diep Nong has developed a cage fish farming model with 5 households and 150 cages, bringing high efficiency. The cooperative is building an OCOP brand for red peanuts - a local advantageous crop, thereby promoting production and processing for consumption, creating more jobs for people in the commune.
In addition to the three mandatory service stages, the cooperative is providing four service stages: rat extermination, veterinary, product purchase linkage, land preparation and mechanical planting. In 2023, the cooperative's revenue will reach 2 billion VND, with a profit of over 130 million VND.
Mr. Khuong Minh Duyen, Director of the Cooperative, shared: The 2024 Cooperative Star Award is a recognition by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance for the contributions of cooperatives to the economic development of the locality in particular and the development of the collective economy in general.
In the coming time, the Cooperative will continue to expand high-value crops in consumption linkages, striving for 70% of the cultivated area (sweet corn, millet, carrots) to have signed product consumption contracts with purchasing teams and businesses. Focus on promoting mechanization of land preparation, bed making, transplanting, spraying pesticides; applying sprinkler and drip irrigation technology in growing crops.
