This event was organized by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions and related units under the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong affirmed: The Party and State of Vietnam have always consistently maintained the view of building an advanced Vietnamese culture, rich in national identity; considering culture as both the spiritual foundation and an important intrinsic driving force for development. In particular, the field of fine arts plays a special role in affirming identity, nurturing the soul, and spreading the soft power of the country. We have every right to be proud that Vietnamese visual arts are increasingly asserting their position on the regional and world art map, with many works of high artistic value, reflecting the modern Vietnamese soul while still deeply imbued with tradition.

Throughout that journey, lacquer art has been one of the most outstanding contributions. Using traditional materials, Vietnamese artists have created and developed a unique art form highly valued by the international art community. Vietnamese lacquer art not only achieves a high level of technical sophistication but also embodies cultural depth, patience, meticulousness, and a distinct Vietnamese aesthetic sensibility.
The technique of polishing each layer of lacquer to reveal the colors, lines, and shapes—a process that demands time, effort, and emotion—creates a mystical, elegant, and profound beauty on the surface of the artwork. Lacquer paintings have long been not only symbols of traditional art but also a richly expressive medium in contemporary art.

According to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, the Lacquer Art Exhibition, held to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, is a cultural and artistic activity of profound significance, expressing the feelings, beliefs, responsibilities, and pride of artists and writers towards the Party and the country. The exhibition not only honors the traditional values of lacquer art but also affirms the strong vitality, adaptability, and innovation of Vietnamese fine arts in the context of integration. It is also an opportunity for domestic and international audiences to better understand and appreciate this art form with its distinct Vietnamese identity; and at the same time, contribute to promoting the image of a country rich in culture, creativity, and humanism.

The exhibition introduces to the public and international friends 44 representative lacquer paintings by artists from different generations who have contributed to and left their mark on the development of Vietnamese fine arts. Viewers have the opportunity to admire works such as "Uncle Ho with Children" by artist Nguyen Nghia Duyen; "Ha Long Boat" by artist Nguyen Van Ty; "The Road to Pac Bo Cave" by artist Tran Dinh Tho; "Hoa Binh Landscape" by artist Nguyen Van Binh; "Chi Lang Pass" by artist Le Quoc Loc; "After Labor Hours" by artist Lo An Quang; "Peninsula" by artist Doan Van Nguyen…
The exhibition runs until December 22nd at 29 Hang Bai Street, Cua Nam Ward, Hanoi .
