MU must break transfer record to get Baleba

British newspapers all believe that MU will have to spend a lot of money if they want to recruit midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton.

The BBC said that Brighton's negotiations to buy players are always difficult. Chairman Tony Bloom is famous for his tough and uncompromising negotiating strategy. Brighton has no intention of selling Baleba this summer when the new season is about to start.

Talksport said the Baleba deal could be worth up to £100 million, almost the same amount Chelsea had to spend to own Moises Caicedo in the summer of 2023 (£115 million). Baleba is also the successor to Caicedo when he joined "The Blues".

MU's current transfer record is the Paul Pogba deal (89 million pounds), which took place in the summer of 2016.

BBC believes that MU reaching a personal agreement with Baleba will be easier than negotiating with Brighton. The problem now lies in the club's determination, after preparing to spend nearly 80 million pounds to bring Benjamin Sesko from Leipzig.

In the summer of 2025, MU is actively looking for a player who can strengthen the midfield. Captain Bruno Fernandes has called on the board to recruit more new players to strengthen the midfield, and Baleba is considered the ideal target. The 21-year-old midfielder stands out with his dynamic playing style, technique and impressive ball recovery ability.

In the 2024/25 season, Baleba made 40 appearances in all competitions, becoming an indispensable mainstay under coach Fabian Hurzeler.

Rashford shines after leaving MU Marcus Rashford contributed to Barcelona's 5-0 victory over Daegu on the evening of August 4.
