On December 30, the People's Court of Da Nang City opened a mobile court at the People's Committee of Phuoc Ninh Ward (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City), to conduct a first-instance trial of a case of illegal drug trafficking.
The People's Court sentenced defendant Tran Hai Trung (24 years old, residing in Thach Thang Ward) to 20 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking; Nguyen Thanh Tin (35 years old, residing in Phuoc Ninh Ward, Hai Chau District) and Tran Anh Dung (55 years old, residing in Binh Thuan Ward, both in Hai Chau District) to 2 years in prison, and Ngo Van Thich (37 years old, residing in Nam Giang District, Quang Nam ) to 1 year and 3 months in prison, both for illegal drug possession.
According to the indictment, Trung had no job, so to make money, Trung illegally bought and sold heroin at home.

From February to April 2023, Trung purchased heroin three times from a man named Bong (whose identity is yet to be determined) near the Da Nang Central Bus Station. Each time he bought approximately 14 grams for 11.2 million VND.
Afterward, Trung divided the heroin into small foil packets, each containing 0.2 - 0.5 - 2 grams, and hid them in his house. He sold them for 300,000 - 700,000 VND and 2.5 million VND per packet.
Initially, Trung sold heroin to 5-6 people a day. Later, hearing that Trung sold drugs at his house, located in the city center with many narrow alleys making it easy to evade detection, more and more addicts came to buy from him.
From April 2023, Trung lost contact with the person named Bong, but a man named Bi (whose identity is yet to be determined) came to Trung's house to offer to buy heroin. From then until his arrest, Trung bought heroin from Bi three times , each time buying half a block (over 150 grams) for 130 million VND per half block.
In court, Trung confessed that because Bi sold heroin at a cheap price, Trung bought it to stockpile and sell gradually.
On June 21, 2023, the Drug Crime Investigation Team of the Hai Chau District Police (Da Nang City) raided Trung's hideout and discovered nearly 350 grams of heroin.
The remaining three defendants were drug addicts who regularly bought drugs from Trung. Meanwhile, Trung is the nephew of Tran Thi Thanh (60 years old, residing on Ong Ich Khiem Street, Da Nang), a drug kingpin who had previously been arrested by the Hai Chau District Police.
Along with raiding the hideout of drug queen Tran Thi Thanh, the police also arrested many suspects in this drug trafficking family.
