Heavy rains across the country have caused serious landslides on the Ho Chi Minh Highway through the Central region, causing traffic jams. As of 7am on October 27, there were 8 locations with traffic jams due to landslides in the Lo Xo Pass area in Da Nang city and Quang Ngai province.
Specifically, Ho Chi Minh road through Phuoc Nang commune, Da Nang city had 4 landslides: At Km 1403+00, the positive slope landslide, estimated volume of 5,000 m3, soil and rock slid down onto the road causing complete traffic blockage. At Km 1406+600, soil and rock slid down from the positive slope onto the road causing complete traffic blockage, estimated volume of 6,000 m3.
At Km1405+300, landslides from the positive slope overflowed onto the road, causing a complete traffic jam, with an estimated volume of about 650 m3. At Km1406+830, landslides from the positive slope overflowed onto the road, causing a complete traffic jam, with an estimated volume of about 3000 m3.
Immediately after the landslide, the road management and maintenance unit deployed vehicles, equipment and workers to the scene and urgently cleared the landslide. However, the rain is currently very heavy, the landslide on the slope continues to affect the progress of the road clearance.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh road through Dak Plo commune, Quang Ngai province has 4 landslides: At Km1407+950, the landslide from the positive slope overflowed onto the road surface, causing a vertical ditch to be filled, with an estimated volume of about 360 m3; along with 10 trees falling onto the road surface. At Km1408+100, the landslide from the positive slope overflowed onto the road surface, causing a complete traffic jam.
At Km1407+630 on this route, landslides from the positive slope spilled onto the road surface, causing a complete traffic jam, with an estimated volume of about 1,430 m3. Immediately after the landslide occurred, the Management and Maintenance Unit deployed vehicles, equipment and workers to the scene to clear the landslide and reopen the road at 7:30 a.m. on October 27, 2025.
This morning, at Km1407+800 of Ho Chi Minh road in Dak Plo commune, Quang Ngai province, there was another landslide, with soil and rocks spilling onto the road, causing a complete traffic jam, with an estimated volume of about 770 m3.

Local road management units mobilized human resources and machinery to urgently clear landslides and rocks to open traffic as soon as possible.

Road Management Area III said that immediately after the landslide caused traffic jam, the unit informed the Department of Construction and the Traffic Police Department of Da Nang City, Quang Ngai Province and the media to inform vehicles and proactively plan their travel routes.
Currently, the weather is still raining heavily over a large area. Road Management Area III has been requesting management and maintenance units to regularly concentrate human resources and machinery, taking advantage of every hour, even at night, to urgently clear landslides and rocks from the slopes to open traffic as soon as possible.
At the same time, dredging overflowed soil to fill longitudinal ditches and clearing sewers to ensure drainage; strengthening road inspections, especially at key locations, to promptly handle congestion and ensure smooth traffic safety.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Chien, Director of Quang Nam - Da Nang Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company, the unit closely monitors the progress of each landslide location to have effective remedial measures. When favorable conditions arise, the construction will be accelerated, trying to open one lane to serve the travel needs of the people.
