Heavy rain, many roads and low-lying areas in Quang Nam are deeply flooded

On the same afternoon, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Quang Nam province issued an official dispatch emphasizing.

According to Bulletin No. 01VTHNDBML-TTBO dated September 18, 2024 of the Central Central Region Hydrometeorological Station; from now September 18 to noon September 20, in the Vu Gia Thu Bon river basin, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places with common rainfall of 100-300mm, and in some places over 400mm.

Pursuant to Decision No. 1865/QD-TTg dated December 23, 2019 of the Prime Minister on promulgating the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River Basin; The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Quang Nam Province requests the Owners of hydropower reservoirs to follow the Inter-reservoir Operation Procedure in Decision No. 1865/QD-TTg to implement the contents.

Implement the direction of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in Official Dispatch No. 06/CD-UBND dated September 16 on focusing on responding to tropical depressions; Official Dispatch No. 07/UBND-CD dated September 17 on proactively responding to tropical depressions that are likely to strengthen into storms.

Organize a serious on-duty team, closely monitor weather information, flood and rain situations, increase notifications and warnings to ensure safety for people and related activities on rivers and streams in the downstream area of dams and factories before operating, regulating, starting to release water for power generation or in cases of sudden increase in discharge flow downstream.

For reservoirs with free spillways, closely monitor and notify the expected time of water level overflow to localities, people in downstream areas, and relevant units for proactive response.

Coordinate with relevant authorities, districts, towns and cities to organize propaganda for people about the operation and regulation of hydroelectric reservoirs, skills to prevent drowning accidents when working and traveling in river and stream areas downstream of hydroelectric plants.
