Over the past period, using funds from national target programs, Muong Khuong district has focused on investing in, expanding, and upgrading rural transportation routes to meet the needs of people for travel and agricultural product transportation.
Although only over 50% of the work has been completed, the people of Sang Lung Phin village (Nam Chay commune) are very excited that the 2.5 km road leading to the production area has been widened and half of its length paved with concrete.
Previously, this road was a dirt path, impassable in the rain due to its steep slopes and slippery surface. Unfortunately, during harvest, if it rained, people had to leave their crops in the fields and wait for sunny weather to transport them home. However, in just over a month, when the road is completed, people will be able to freely transport their produce from the production area to their homes, even in the rain.
In addition to the Sang Lung Phin village road, Nam Chay commune has opened three rural roads: the Gia Khau A village road, 2.6 km long, leading to a 100-hectare area for corn, tea, and fruit tree production, serving the transportation needs of Gia Khau A and Mao Phin villages; the Lung Phin A village road, 5 km long, leading to a 150-hectare agricultural production area in Lung Phin A and Sang Lung Phin villages; and the Mao Phin village road, 1.5 km long, serving the transportation needs of the villagers.
Mr. Cu Tho, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Chay commune, said: From national target program funds, in the two years (2022 and 2023), Nam Chay commune was assigned to be the investor for 4 rural road projects. Currently, construction on these roads has begun and is basically complete. Thanks to the roads, agricultural production areas have expanded, and the area of key local crops such as bananas, tea, and fruit trees has increased significantly.
Not only in Nam Chay, but in many communes throughout Muong Khuong district, the investment in rural roads has contributed to promoting local socio -economic development. Examples include the Hoang Phi Chai - Lung Cang road (Ta Ngai Cho commune), 2.5 km long; the Chu Lin Pho - Ma Ngan road (Lung Khau Nhin commune), 2.5 km long; and the Ta San - Na Lang road (Lung Vai commune), 2.5 km long…
In 2022 and 2023, Muong Khuong district invested in the construction of 62 rural roads with a total length of 181.8 km. To date, 56 km have been concreted, and construction is being accelerated on the remaining roads.
Mr. Pham Duc Trung, Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Muong Khuong District, said: "The investment in building rural roads in the district has been implemented comprehensively and has received high consensus from the people. The concrete roads have facilitated people's travel, brought a new look to the countryside, and are a driving force for the development of agricultural economy towards commodity production."
