US claims to have captured an ISIS official

Người Đưa TinNgười Đưa Tin26/09/2023

“US Central Command forces conducted a successful helicopter strike in northern Syria on September 23, 2023. Abu Halil al-Fad’ani, an ISIS official in the Force Operations and Support in Syria, was captured during the strike. Al-Fad’ani has been identified as a key member of the ISIS network in the region,” CENTCOM said in a statement.

No civilians were injured or killed in the raid, the statement said.

“The successful capture of an ISIS official like al-Fad’ani enhances our ability to locate, target, and eliminate terrorists from the battlefield,” said CENTCOM spokesman Lt. Col. Troy Garlock. “USCENTCOM remains committed to relentlessly pursuing and eliminating ISIS.”

During August, CENTCOM and coalition partners conducted eight operations in Syria, resulting in the capture of seven ISIS members and the death of one member. In Iraq, 18 members were captured and six were killed during August operations in Iraq.

Hudayfah al Yemeni—an ISIS member who was “an ISIS attack planner”—and two accomplices were arrested in a helicopter raid in April.

The US government still has about 900 troops in Syria on a mission to defeat ISIS.
