According to the Vietnam Urban Administration ( Ministry of Construction ), in Ho Chi Minh City, the tree coverage is 26.3%, but the distribution is uneven. Notably, the overall coverage of the inner city area is only 3.9%. The area of ​​land for public trees in the center of Ho Chi Minh City is only 0.55 m2/person, the lowest in the country (the national average is 7 m2/person).

According to statistics from Ho Chi Minh City, by the end of 2023, the whole area has about 11,369 hectares of park land and green land. Meanwhile, the urbanization rate is very fast. The number of trees and green area in Ho Chi Minh City is low, but in recent years it has been decreasing a lot to make way for many transportation projects or to serve the construction process.

South Saigon - the city's ecological urban area

According to planning information of Ho Chi Minh City, South Saigon is oriented to become a modern ecological urban area, with the colors of the Southern river city. Here, it will be focused on developing into a multifunctional mixed-use area including clean industry, resorts,education , financial center, trade, science, and services.

Besides the strongly developed District 7, Nha Be is also highly appreciated because this land owns many canals and green areas much larger than other districts of Ho Chi Minh City. According to the investment project of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, in the period of 2021-2030, Nha Be is expected to become a satellite city like Phu My Hung area, District 7.
