The facility is considered one of the largest smart cold storage bonded warehouses in Southeast Asia, opening up a new direction for the development of the logistics service ecosystem serving the agricultural and aquatic product supply chain nationwide.

In recent years, Vietnam's agriculture and fisheries sector has continuously transformed towards improving quality and expanding export markets. However, cold chain logistics infrastructure remains a persistent bottleneck, putting significant pressure on businesses in terms of costs, transportation quality, and competitiveness. Against the backdrop of a global economy impacted by trade tensions and tariff fluctuations, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment aims for exports to reach US$65-70 billion by 2025; specifically, the fisheries sector strives to exceed US$10 billion, an increase of nearly 13% compared to 2024. These goals require the sector to have a commensurate, modern, and capable infrastructure for preservation, storage, and transportation, sufficient to meet the needs from raw material areas to consumer markets.
In reality, most businesses in the Mekong Delta and Southeast Vietnam are facing difficulties in accessing internationally standardized cold storage facilities, lacking end-to-end logistics services, and having limited working capital solutions. This significantly reduces the competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products, while also preventing the full exploitation of the potential of these key economic regions.
In this context, NECS was established with the goal of comprehensively addressing the bottlenecks of the industry. The facility is built on a foundation of modern automation technology, aiming for green operation and meeting international standards such as ISO, Edge, MSC/ASC, EU Code… Notably, this is the first cold storage bonded warehouse approved by the Customs Department, enabling businesses to complete import and export procedures on-site, saving time and costs.
NECS has a capacity of up to 110,000 pallets, operating in an automated model in a deep-freeze environment with robots, intelligent racking systems, and optimization algorithms. From booking, receiving and dispatching goods, inventory tracking, temperature management to tracing shipment history, everything is done on a digital platform integrated with IoT and AI. The multi-temperature range system from -22°C to +25°C meets the needs of all product categories including seafood, agricultural products, processed foods, and items requiring strict temperature control.
Beyond just warehousing, NECS provides a value-added service chain including sorting, handling, packing, labeling, order counting, transshipment to seaports, and import/export documentation processing. All are managed on a unified platform, allowing customers to track shipments in real time and control the entire journey from cold storage and bonded warehouses to distribution centers and international seaports.
A notable new development is NECS's collaboration with banks to implement a "collateralized goods management" model, allowing businesses to use their existing inventory as collateral. Thanks to a transparent data management system, banks can minimize risks, expedite disbursement, and support businesses in maintaining production, aligning with the development direction of green finance and agricultural finance.
Located at the gateway to the Mekong Delta, bordering Ho Chi Minh City and directly connected to major seaports in the South, NECS's location is considered a strategic advantage. The facility serves as both a convenient "outlet" for goods from the Mekong Delta's raw material sources and a flexible "entrance" for imported goods distributed back to the region. By shortening transportation distances, businesses can optimize costs, enhance time advantages, and improve product quality.
NECS's long-term vision is to form a closed-loop logistics ecosystem based on the "One Stop Service" model, directly connecting seaports, cold storage facilities, and transportation. Once completed, this ecosystem will significantly contribute to upgrading the national logistics infrastructure, promoting maritime economic development, and supporting the implementation of the sustainable development strategy for the Mekong Delta.

With its modern infrastructure, intelligent operating model, and high-tech orientation, NECS is expected to become a crucial link, helping Vietnam's agriculture and fisheries sector to break through in the new era. The project not only addresses immediate needs but also creates a foundation for the Southwest, Southeast, and the entire country to elevate the food supply chain and expand strongly into the global market.
