"Ukraine's arsenal is depleted. The arsenals of the US and NATO are also depleted. You can see what is happening on the battlefield. Ukraine responds to 10 or 20 of our artillery shells with only a few shells," Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, said on December 30.
Gavrilov further emphasized that the West continues to supply Ukraine with missiles and air defense systems, but on a scale not comparable to before. He predicted that the West would not increase aid to Kyiv in the near future.
Nag officials believe that the West is beginning to show signs of fatigue with providing aid to Ukraine in a protracted conflict.
Earlier this week, the US announced its final aid package for Ukraine this year worth $250 million. If the US Congress does not quickly approve a new budget package, Washington will no longer have money to aid Kiev.
According to military analysts, in a protracted war of attrition, Ukraine would be at a disadvantage compared to Russia due to its dependence on Western aid.
Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said earlier this week that the conflict with Russia is costing the country a massive $120 million per day in security expenses. This money is primarily used for defense, with a portion allocated to other activities such as humanitarian aid and salaries.
