With more than 2 weeks left until the opening date, the 14.7 km overpass of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 is speeding up construction, focusing on completing key packages to be operational on December 19.

According to VTC News reporters at the construction site in the East of Ho Chi Minh City, the 14.7km section through packages XL1 to XL3 has been basically completed. Construction units are speeding up the final items to be ready for technical traffic opening on December 19.

According to the XL3 package, the bridge spans running through the Vinhomes Grand Park area have been connected smoothly, forming a high overpass axis through the residential area.

Construction units are rushing to complete the final items, ensuring sufficient technical conditions for traffic opening according to the direction of the Ministry of Construction .

According to records from the Vinhomes Grand Park urban area extending to the XL2 package, the work of completing railings, median strips and auxiliary infrastructure items is being deployed simultaneously. Notably, this area is installing a noise-proof and dust-proof glass system to ensure safety and reduce environmental impact when the route is put into operation.

At the XL2 package, construction work was also urgently deployed, with the main items mobilizing maximum human resources and machinery to complete on schedule.

At the XL2 package, workers divided into many groups, focusing on installing guardrails and completing the remaining items at pillars 90 and 83. At the construction site, machinery and materials were mobilized to the maximum, the overpass sections clearly took shape, demonstrating the effort to closely follow the technical traffic opening progress as planned.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tan, a construction worker at the XL2 package, said that the main items have been basically completed and are ready for technical traffic. During the day, the construction team will install beams at pillars 82 and 83 to connect the entire route with the XL1 and XL3 packages, creating a connecting circuit through the Vinhomes Grand Park urban area.

Parallel to the overhead flyover, the parallel road is also being deployed simultaneously. The construction unit mobilizes machinery and equipment to speed up the progress.

At the XL1 package, there are currently only about 3 bridge pier spans that have not yet had their girders placed, the remaining spans of the elevated road are open and extend to the XL2 package.

Package XL1 is an important project, connecting Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, playing a key role in completing the elevated route.

According to the report of the Ministry of Construction, by December 19, Ring Road 3 will open to technical traffic some sections with a total length of 29.2 km/70.1 km. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City will open to traffic 14.7 km of overpass in the old Thu Duc City; 5 km in Dong Nai province; 3.1 km in the old Binh Duong province and 6.4 km in the old Long An province.

In addition to the sections that have been technically opened to traffic, a number of other sections with a total length of 37.1 km are also being implemented. Of which, Ho Chi Minh City has 32.6 km in the old districts of Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, and Binh Chanh; 4.5 km in the old province of Binh Duong; the remaining 2.4 km at Tan Van intersection and 1.32 km at Binh Chuan intersection are still under construction.

It is expected that by April 30, 2026, the entire 70.1 km will be completed and technically opened to traffic; by June 30, 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, including the parallel road, will be fully opened to traffic.

The total length of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 is 76.3 km, passing through the new Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh, with a total investment of 75,378 billion VND. According to the investor, 10 main construction packages are being implemented closely following the schedule, while mobilizing maximum resources to compensate for delays due to many factors such as lack of materials, infrastructure relocation or contractors behind schedule, to ensure the completion of the entire route by mid-2026.
