In recent years, scientific research, technological development and innovation in the medical field in general and pharmaceutical science in particular have made great contributions, bringing Vietnamese medicine closer to world medical standards, bringing about profound social effects.
Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Xuyen - President of the Vietnam Medical Association emphasized this at the 2025 Annual Scientific Conference with the theme "Research and application in medicine," organized by the Vietnam Medical Association on October 24 in Hanoi.
"Many areas of research, transfer, and application demonstrate that Vietnam's current level of medical science and technology is gradually becoming one of the important research centers participating in global clinical development programs, especially research and applications in practice medicine," emphasized the President of the Vietnam Medical Association.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan emphasized that in recent years, scientific research, technological innovation, and the application of advanced techniques in the field of healthcare in Vietnam have made significant progress, with many specialized and complex techniques in diagnosis and treatment. These include areas such as organ transplantation, coronary intervention, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, molecular medicine, regenerative medicine, and fetal intervention, which have been effectively implemented in specialized hospitals and high-tech centers.
New technologies in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, such as biotechnology, stem cell technology, and nanotechnology, are being researched and developed in Vietnam. Simultaneously, the healthcare sector is actively implementing solutions to improve the effectiveness of healthcare through technological tools such as electronic medical records, electronic health records, and artificial intelligence in supporting diagnosis and treatment.

Therefore, the Conference is a forum for scientists, experts, managers and health workers to exchange and update knowledge, share practical experiences from research to application in diagnosis, treatment and disease prevention, contributing to improving the quality of health care for the people.
The conference included a plenary session on the theme of orienting the development of applied research in Vietnamese medicine in the context of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation of the nation and Resolution No. 72 on strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health.
