How can we prevent thyroid diseases?

Dr. Do Tien Vu, a specialist at Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: to prevent thyroid diseases, regular health check-ups and a healthy diet are necessary. When noticing any abnormalities in the neck or any other health-related issues, patients should visit reputable medical facilities for examination and treatment advice. Early detection and treatment will help prevent the disease from progressing to a severe stage.

Furthermore, a healthy diet also helps prevent thyroid diseases. Iodine, in particular, helps balance and stimulate the production of essential hormones, reducing the formation of thyroid tumors. However, the body cannot synthesize iodine on its own and must obtain it through diet.

Here are some foods that are good for people with thyroid problems to consider:

- Supplementing with fruits and vegetables such as spinach, watercress, and morning glory can help improve symptoms of muscle pain, fatigue, and irregular heartbeat.

- Omega-3 fatty acids: found in salmon, beef, shrimp, etc.

- Low-fat yogurt: contains plenty of iodine and vitamin D, which are good for the thyroid gland.

- Nuts such as almonds and cashews are a source of magnesium for the body, rich in plant-based protein, vitamin B, vitamin E, and other minerals that support the thyroid gland's efficient function.

- Supplement with selenium: found in beef, chicken, fish, oysters, cheese, etc.
