Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Director of the Provincial Cultural Center and a member of the Organizing Committee of the competition, said: The 4th "Hoa Lu Beauty Contest" in 2024 was meticulously prepared with rich and diverse activities of high cultural and artistic value. District and city youth unions, the Departments of Culture and Information, and the Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Centers of districts and cities have actively promoted and recruited young women in their localities to participate in the contest. As a result, the contest attracted the enthusiastic participation of a large number of young women, creating a vibrant cultural event in terms of content, attractive in form, practical, safe, and economical.
Over the past period, to help contestants practice and gradually become familiar with the activities and content of the competition, the Organizing Committee has provided support and guidance to help contestants gain more knowledge and skills, and convey messages about the culture, land, and people of Ninh Binh in their stage performances.
In addition, to encourage and motivate the contestants, the Organizing Committee has decided to provide financial support to 18 finalists of the "Hoa Lu Beauty Contest," with each contestant receiving two million VND, and further financial support for other areas such as: 2 million VND per finalist for makeup; 5 million VND per contestant for the Top 10; and 10 million VND per contestant for the Top 5.
Launched in July 2024, the "Hoa Lu Beauty Contest" has attracted a large number of female youth union members from districts and cities throughout the province.
Not only did the contestants live and study in Ninh Binh, but the competition also attracted many Ninh Binh citizens living and studying in other provinces and cities across the country, such as: Nguyen Lan Anh, a student at Dai Nam University in Hanoi; Pham Thi Hong Nhung, a student at Hanoi University of Architecture; Le Doan Kieu Trinh, a student at the National Economics University in Hanoi; Nguyen Phan Dieu Linh, a student at Hanoi University of Culture…
Right from the preliminary rounds, even though it might have been their first time on stage in front of a large audience, many contestants showed confidence and delivered strong individual performances. This year, according to the organizers, the quality of the contestants is outstanding; they are all aged 18-20, have pretty appearances, many have ideal heights, and very impressive profiles.
Choreographer Huy Tran, the program director, said: "Right from the stage of guiding the contestants in preparing for the preliminary round, I saw that the quality of the contestants was quite consistent, young in age, many of them having just graduated from high school… This shows the enthusiasm of young people participating in a provincial-level beauty contest. With my responsibility, I supported the contestants in their training, especially in catwalk and stage performance. For many young people, this is truly not an easy experience, as it's their first time on stage, wearing an evening gown… Participating in the 'Hoa Lu Beauty Contest' will give young people a beautiful and meaningful experience as they participate in a major cultural event."
Immediately after passing the preliminary round, the 18 contestants spent time at the shared house practicing for the final round. Interestingly, during the preparation period for the final night, the Organizing Committee implemented many meaningful activities such as: participating in charitable activities at the Nho Quan War Invalids Rehabilitation Center; offering incense and taking photos in traditional Vietnamese ao dai at famous scenic spots in Ninh Binh such as: the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital National Special Monument, Trang An ecological tourist area, Hoa Lu ancient town…
Through the organized activities, the contestants had memorable experiences expressing their gratitude, sharing, and connecting with the wounded and sick soldiers at the Nho Quan Rehabilitation Center for Wounded Soldiers. This spread love and responsibility among young people towards the community, further enhancing the beauty of young women in the ancient capital region.
In particular, the photoshoot in traditional Vietnamese ao dai dresses at famous scenic spots in Ninh Binh is an opportunity for contestants to promote the province's famous historical sites and landmarks, especially the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex - a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site - to a wide audience of people and tourists from within and outside the province.
Ms. Vu Thi Ha, owner of the Ha Silk Ao Dai brand (Ninh Khanh ward, Ninh Binh city) - one of the sponsors of the competition - said: "This is the third time I have had the honor of being invited by the Department of Culture and Sports to accompany the competition. As a sponsor of traditional Ao Dai costumes for the contestants, I have poured a lot of my heart and soul into the Ao Dai collections I bring to the competition."
If, in my first year participating in the competition, I prepared a collection of ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dresses) with themes of Ninh Binh landscapes and the Thai Binh Hung Bao coin; in the second year, it was "Dragon Bed - a national treasure," and the beauty of young women… then this year, the collection will focus on the legend of King Dinh and images of Ninh Binh tourism that are attracting domestic and international tourists, such as Hoa Lu ancient town and the "Golden Colors of Tam Coc"...
From the initial stages of conceptualizing the collection, my team and I have always aimed to spread the cultural value of the traditional Vietnamese ao dai dress. At the same time, through these ao dai designs, I also hope to contribute to promoting and honoring the image of Ninh Binh's land and people to a wider audience of locals and tourists.
Having been held four times, the "Hoa Lu Beauty Contest" is a meaningful cultural event aimed at fostering compassion, love for the homeland, and preserving and promoting the traditional values of women in the ancient capital region among the younger generation.
The activities of the Contest have contributed to aesthetic education, affirming, honoring, and enhancing the value of physical beauty, soul, talent, and intelligence of young women in the ancient capital of Hoa Lu - Ninh Binh during the period of accelerated industrialization and modernization.
The competition aims to promote and celebrate the image of Ninh Binh's land and people, its famous historical sites and scenic spots, especially the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex - a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site - to a wide audience of people and tourists both domestically and internationally.
