Prepare supply, make efforts to stabilize prices

Talking to a reporter from Cong Thuong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Huong - Operation Director of WinCommerce in the North said that in order to serve consumer demand in the context of a recent sharp decline in the supply of vegetables and fruits in the market and sudden price increases, WinMart has made efforts to fulfill the task of supplying goods, proactively coordinating between regions to ensure adequate supply of goods and maintain stable selling prices.

Thanks to this flexible coordination mechanism, fruits and vegetables are still fully supplied at the WinMart/WinMart+/WiN system nationwide, without any shortages. Although logistics and inter-regional transportation costs increased due to storms and rains, and input prices from suppliers increased by 20-30%, WinMart still strives to keep prices stable and implement many incentive programs to support consumers during difficult times.

For the past week, WinMart supermarket system and WinMart+/WiN stores in the North have been implementing a vegetable price stabilization program, with many items being sold at non-profit prices to support consumers. Green cabbage, water spinach... are priced from 15,900 VND/300g package; Chinese cabbage, Chinese cabbage, Chinese broccoli... are priced at 18,000 VND/500g package. Many other items such as pumpkin, green squash, Chinese cabbage, white radish, taro, kohlrabi, and green lolo lettuce are also offered at better prices than the general market price of vegetables and fruits.

In the South and Central regions from December 1 to December 7, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN will launch a good-priced vegetable program, selling at a non-profit price, applicable to member customers with many types of vegetables at the same price of 14,900, 15,900 VND, such as Chinese cabbage, sweet cabbage, green zucchini, water spinach, Malabar spinach, cherry tomatoes...

At the same time, WinEco - WinMart's partner supplying clean vegetables meeting VietGap, GlobalGap, and Organic standards and a member of Masan Group - has activated a system-wide response plan to the complex storm and flood situation. WinEco has proactively implemented an inter-regional supply compensation mechanism, mobilizing output from key farms in Lam Dong, the Central region, and the South to promptly supplement affected areas.

“Since the beginning of November, WinEco has increased the transportation of hundreds of tons of vegetables every day between regions, ensuring a stable supply for the markets of Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, the Northern, Central and Central Highlands regions,” Ms. Huong informed.

Actively work with suppliers to maintain stable supply of goods

Also speaking with a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, a representative of the MM Mega Market Vietnam supermarket system said that since the end of November, the transportation of goods from the South to the Central region of MM Mega Market Vietnam has gradually recovered, allowing the implementation of deliveries to warehouses in the Central region.

The supply of vegetables and fruits at MM Mega Market is transferred from warehouses across the country.

In the North, the supply of goods is maintained thanks to transfers from Moc Chau warehouse, Bac Ninh central warehouse and the network of suppliers in the region. Shipments from Da Lat have also been circulated along authorized routes, contributing to supplementing the supply for both the South and the North.

“At the same time, we are increasing the stock of essential goods such as instant noodles and rice and coordinating with suppliers to support the distribution of goods to heavily affected areas, within our capacity,” said a representative of the MM Mega Market Vietnam supermarket system.

To ensure goods as well as minimize the risk of price increases, especially for essential goods, MM Mega Market Vietnam has built many response plans to minimize the risk of price fluctuations, focusing on three groups of solutions. Specifically, diversifying supply sources through many suppliers in each region to maintain stable price margins and in accordance with the direction of local authorities and adjustments of state management agencies. Optimizing logistics coordination, working with shipping partners to optimize shipping time.

MM Mega Market representative informed that in preparation for Tet season, in addition to the usual goods planning, MM Mega Market Vietnam plans to add some essential goods groups to serve customers' cleaning and home preparation needs, depending on market developments and the level of transportation recovery.

Another large retailer, Saigon Co.op, said it has proactively worked with suppliers to maintain a stable supply of goods, especially leafy vegetables and fruits - the "core" items in people's daily spending baskets.

A representative of Saigon Co.op said that the system has activated a flexible supply mechanism, increased the collection of green vegetables from Da Lat and purchased more output from cooperatives in the Southeast and Southwest regions to maintain a stable supply of goods and lower prices than the market. The most important goal is to reduce prices and share difficulties with customers in the context of rapidly increasing living costs.

In the context of extreme weather disrupting supply and pushing up vegetable prices, large retail businesses have become an important "fulcrum" for the market. By simultaneously activating inter-regional coordination mechanisms, mobilizing goods from many farms and suppliers to compensate for local shortages; accepting to sell many groups of green vegetables at no profit shows an effort to share spending pressure with people, keeping prices stable in difficult times.
