Recently, the Daily Mail (UK) announced the Top 10 players with the most goals in 2024. Nguyen Xuan Son ranked 8th on this list with 40 goals for the Nam Dinh Blue Steel Club and the Vietnam National Team.
Of Xuan Son's 40 goals, 5 were scored for the Vietnam national team at the AFF Cup 2024. Xuan Son is also leading the list of top scorers at the AFF Cup 2024.

Topping the list is Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon with 62 goals. In second place is Erling Haaland of Man City and Norway with 49 goals. Harry Kane, striker of England and Bayern Munich, is in third place with 46 goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo is ranked 4th in the Top scorers of 2024. The Portuguese star, who plays for Al Nassr Club, has scored 43 goals. The remaining positions are Wu Lei (Shanghai Port, 42 goals), Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona, 42 goals), Jonathan David (Lille, 40 goals), Nguyen Xuan Son (Nam Dinh Blue Steel, 40 goals), Ayoub El Kaabi (Olympiakos, 40 goals) and Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid, 39 goals).
Since 2011, Ronaldo has been the world's top scorer in a calendar year five times: 2011 (60 goals), 2013 (69 goals), 2014 (61 goals), 2015 (57 goals) and most recently 2023 (54 goals). However, Messi still holds the record for most goals scored in a calendar year with 91 goals in 2012.
