The Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 construction project, invested by the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), commenced in late 2022 with a total investment of nearly 11,000 billion VND. Package 12, "Construction and installation of passenger terminal equipment," started in late August 2023 and has been under construction for nearly 7 months now.

Mr. Vu The Phiệt, General Director of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), said that the consortium of contractors for package 12 has completed the Critical Path Method (CPM) to closely manage each item, aiming to shorten the overall progress by 60 days compared to the initial agreement with the investor.

Using this method, contractors determined that each item would have its schedule shortened, such as: completing the reinforced concrete structure of the station by April 30, 2024, shortening the schedule by 15 days; completing the steel structure of the station by October 14, 2024, shortening the schedule by 37 days; completing the roof erection by February 2025, shortening the schedule by 17 days; completing the electromechanical work by March 2025, shortening the schedule by 33 days; and completing the installation of operating equipment by April 22, 2025, shortening the schedule by 2 months.

As of March 18th, the T3 terminal at Tan Son Nhat Airport has completed over 81% of its structural construction. "Contractors are dividing the area into smaller sections for phased construction, working in two main shifts per day, from 6 am to 10 pm. Some tasks, such as transporting concrete and materials and waste disposal, will operate overnight. Any items that arise will be switched to a 'three shifts, four teams' system, working even on Saturdays and Sundays," said Mr. Le Khac Hong, Head of the T3 Passenger Terminal Project Management Board.

The Tan Son Nhat International Airport Terminal 3 project is a national key transportation project chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh . The Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 is designed to handle 20 million passengers per year, alleviating the current overcrowding situation at Tan Son Nhat Airport.

On the second floor of the T3 terminal building, hundreds of workers are diligently constructing the formwork for the beams and slabs.

Temperatures at the T3 terminal construction site have been affected by unprecedented heatwaves in recent days, but the workers are still toiling under the sun.

Approximately 30 meters from the train station, workers use hydraulic bending machines to produce steel structures for transport to higher floors. One worker stated that the outdoor temperature in areas with a lot of steel absorbs heat, reaching nearly 40 °C.

A "Ninja" of the T3 terminal construction site emerges from the construction site. During the scorching hot days of March, workers have to wrap scarves around their faces to avoid sunstroke.

With a flushed face from the scorching sun at 11 a.m., Mr. Le Thanh Xuan (58 years old), Head of Safety for the construction contractor, continued to closely monitor the teams of workers toiling on the scaffolding at the construction site.

Following the motto "eat quickly, sleep urgently," the two engineers rushed to the construction site right after lunch.

However, the consortium of contractors has accelerated the construction pace to the maximum, with the T3 terminal structure now nearing completion of the third floor slab and preparing for the fourth floor slab. A representative from ACV stated that the consortium is striving to complete the entire reinforced concrete structure before April 30th of this year, ensuring that the rainy season does not slow down the construction progress.
