Development according to TOD model
At the workshop, Dr. Architect Ngo Viet Nam Son said that the sustainable development strategy of Nha Trang needs to follow the TOD urban development plan (Transit Oriented Development, an urban development model associated with public transport) of high-rise buildings - underground space.
Dr. Architect Ngo Viet Nam Son proposed 10 strategic orientations for sustainable development of Nha Trang.
Specifically, developing Nha Trang is associated with developing a public transport network according to the TOD model in a multi-center and regional linkage; encouraging the construction of high-rise buildings in areas affected by public transport and metro routes;
Prioritize the development of high-rise TOD axes in the east-west direction with open views of the river and sea; focus resources on developing the most important strategic TOD metro urban line in the future on Vo Nguyen Giap street;
Establish strategic orientations and management regulations for the coordinated development of underground space connecting high-rise buildings and infrastructure works in the new central area (old airport) of Nha Trang; renovate and develop riverside urban areas on both sides of Cai River according to the TOD model.
In addition, promote a specific mechanism for Nha Trang to develop urban areas linked with public transport according to the TOD model; take advantage of the infrastructure of the railway system and old stations to renovate them into an urban area with a light rail public transport route...
Building a "Nha Trang sea and island"
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Chu Hoi focused on solutions for effective and sustainable management and exploitation of Nha Trang's sea and island areas.
According to Mr. Hoi, it can be said that Nha Trang truly converges the elements of a beautiful, charming, livable coastal city with great development potential. In particular, in strategic planning and development plans, it is impossible to separate the close connection between the two urban spaces - sea and island.
Therefore, it is necessary to continue to innovate thinking and development vision; promote the values of the sea and islands that nature has endowed to build not only a "Nha Trang on land".
According to Mr. Hoi, it is necessary to build a sustainable "Nha Trang sea and island".
Mr. Hoi said that it is necessary to effectively control emission sources and waste from the mainland and islands into Nha Trang waters. Especially hazardous waste, solid waste as well as objects and substances that sink into the sea.
Conserving natural marine resources to develop a blue marine economy associated with promoting typical marine cultural values; restoring typical ecosystems in the sea and islands of Nha Trang that have been degraded and reduced in area (coral reefs, seagrass beds).
Towards a creative city
At the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Director of the Boston Global Forum, co-founder of the Artificial Intelligence Society Initiative - proposed a solution to build Nha Trang into a global creative city.
According to Mr. Tuan, for Nha Trang to become a global creative city, it is necessary to build a creative ecosystem of technology, culture and art; create pioneering creative products, new values in the artificial intelligence society - the era of global enlightenment; gather leading creators, elite figures.
Specifically, building the AIP of Nha Trang University of Information and Communications as the core, creating unique and distinctive values, creating initiatives, pioneering creative products, cultural events creating new values;
Gathering the world's elite thinkers and creators to Nha Trang; building advanced medical andeducational infrastructure for elite creators to live and work here.
