70TH ANNIVERSARY OF TRAN CAO VAN HIGH SCHOOL (TAM KY): Continuing the tradition, creating the future

After 70 years of formation and development, Tran Cao Van High School is the oldest school in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province (old).

Nostalgia

Tran Cao Van High School was the first high school established in Tam Ky after the 1954 Geneva Agreement with the name Tam Ky Public High School, located on Tran Cao Van Street (now Tran Quoc Toan Primary School).

The school opened in the 1955-1956 school year and the following school year was officially named Tran Cao Van High School. At this time, the school only opened 2 seventh grade classes, 1 sixth grade class and 1 fifth grade class.

For about 10 years from 1955, Tam Ky had only one public high school; in 1964, Quang Tin High School for Girls was added. Therefore, the female students of Tran Cao Van School were transferred to study at the girls' school.

It was not until the 1972-1973 school year, when the students' learning needs increased, that the school opened a second campus with 16 classrooms on Huynh Thuc Khang Street (now Ly Tu Trong Secondary School) and transferred the secondary school students (from grade 10 to grade 12) to study here.

After the country's reunification, Tran Cao Van School was moved to the former location of Quang Tin High School for Girls, at 2 Nguyen Du Street.

At the beginning of the 2009 - 2010 school year, the school moved again to Le Duan Street, Tam Ky City.

The contributions of many generations of teachers and students have created a long-standing reputation for Tran Cao Van School. Generations of students of the school have constantly strived to improve themselves, becoming leaders, scientists , businessmen, teachers, doctors, engineers, citizens who live useful lives for society, contributing to the reputation of the school and the homeland of Quang.

The school's mission

The first twenty years since the country's reunification (1975 - 1995) were a journey full of hardships and challenges. The school was rebuilt from scratch while continuing to promote the educational traditions of a locality.

For twenty years, Tran Cao Van High School has always been the leading unit of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam - Da Nang in the educational reform, from changing textbooks to piloting specialized teaching programs in the renovation period. At that time, Tran Cao Van School was one of 15 schools nationwide selected by the Ministry of Education and Training to pilot specialized programs with the name: Tran Cao Van Specialized High School.

Although the conditions of the school as well as the students' families at this stage were extremely difficult, many students lived far away, had no means of transportation, had to walk for hours to school, some had to stay in rented accommodation. However, with the spirit of overcoming difficulties and excelling in studying, many classes had a high rate of students passing the entrance exams to universities and up to now, many former students have been successful in all fields at home and abroad.

In 2004, the school was awarded the Flag of Leading Emulation Unit in 2004 by the Government, awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, Second Class Labor Medal and is one of two high schools in Quang Nam province to achieve the title of National Standard School to date.

Seventy years have passed, the school has changed its name and location many times, but there are some things that never change. That is the tradition of studiousness, the love and affection of many generations of students, the determination to study and train to become useful citizens for their families and society, and the pride of the 70-year-old school. Above all, that spirit is fostered by the example of patriot Tran Cao Van, resounding in the song: "This is the group of heroic students of Tran Cao Van/ building Vietnam following the heroic footsteps..." (March of Tran Cao Van - Luong Bang Vinh).

The rise of faith

In 2025, Tran Cao Van High School will be 70 years old. With new goals and new missions, the school will continue to build, consolidate and develop in terms of school size and education quality.

Continuing the glorious history of a school with a long tradition, generations of teachers and students together create the future in the digital age, promoting all resources to effectively implement the 2018 General Education Program.

The school currently has 8 professional groups and 1 administrative group. Many teachers are key teachers of the department; many teachers have achieved the title of excellent teachers, provincial emulation fighters; many teachers have been awarded certificates of merit by the Provincial People's Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training...

In the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution, smart schools are being built; digital thinking is gradually taking shape, the school is gradually proposing specific solutions to effectively implement the motto: "Taking learners as the center, taking education quality as the core, taking the trend of the times to guide the approach".

In recent years, the school has made great strides in terms of landscape, pedagogical environment, spacious classrooms and increasingly improved education quality. Provincial-level excellent student awards have gradually increased in quantity and quality.

Many students won high prizes, including first prizes, especially at the "Students of Quang Nam" contest - an intellectual playground organized by Quang Nam Radio and Television Station in collaboration with the Quang Nam Department of Education and Training, students of Tran Cao Van High School won the championship twice.

This year's National Day, September 2nd, marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of Tran Cao Van High School. This is also an opportunity for generations of teachers and students to reunite, and a time to reminisce about the unforgettable years under this school roof.
