The results achieved in the past term continue to affirm the core role of the war veteran force in building new rural areas, maintaining security and order and improving people's lives.

Innovation to gather members, improve the quality of the Association organization

During the last term, the work of gathering members continued to be implemented by the Veterans Association at all levels with many flexible solutions, suitable for each region and each locality.

Up to now, the whole province has 142 affiliated Association organizations (including 135 communes, wards and 7 Association organizations of block 487), 2,660 branches with 69,935 members. The work of building the Association is always given top priority, associated with the movement "Exemplary war veterans" and the requirement to improve the quality of grassroots organizations.

According to Mr. Pham Manh Hung - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association: Thousands of Veterans Association members have been elected to Party committees, authorities, and People's Councils at all levels and actively participated in the work of the Front and mass organizations.

In every position, members always maintain the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", being exemplary, dedicated and responsible to the community, becoming a reliable support for the people.

Along with the task of building the Association, the movement "War veterans help each other reduce poverty and do good business " continues to spread widely, becoming an important driving force for members to develop the economy.

Currently, the province has 123 enterprises, 20 cooperatives, 11 cooperative groups, 501 farms, 4,532 family farms and 3,250 business households owned by War Veterans Association members, creating jobs for nearly 22,000 workers. Of these, hundreds of workers are War Veterans, former soldiers or children of War Veterans Association members.

The Association at all levels coordinated to organize dozens of training courses on production and animal husbandry for members; guided 53,700 members to access credit capital of more than VND 2,419 billion from the Bank for Social Policies.

At the same time, more than 85 billion VND was mobilized from the Comradeship Fund and revolving capital sources, creating more conditions for members to expand production and increase income.

Along with that, the Association at all levels actively participated in the program of "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses", supporting 368 member households to improve their housing conditions. In particular, the movement of "War veterans helping each other to sustainably reduce poverty" continued to be maintained with many activities rich in humanity.

From 2023 to now, the Association has mobilized 567 million VND to buy 51 cows and 2 buffaloes to support poor members in disadvantaged communes. This is a practical direction, creating sustainable livelihoods for people to stabilize their lives.

At the grassroots level, many innovative models have been effectively implemented. In Kon Chieng commune, the “Veteran Rice Warehouse” model is a bright spot. The Commune Veterans Association borrowed 1.5 hectares of idle land from the locality to produce rice, harvesting nearly 2.8 tons of rice/year, and used to support members and people with interest-free loans during the lean season. Thanks to that, more than 20 households have overcome immediate difficulties.

The branches also grow 4.5 hectares of high-yield cassava, earning more than 67 million VND each year to supplement the “Comradely Love” fund to visit and support members in times of illness and misfortune. Some other branches develop a hybrid acacia plantation model, creating a stable source of income and supporting members in borrowing capital for production.

Thanks to synchronous solutions, the rate of poor member households in the whole province has decreased to 2.08%; near-poor households to 3.17%; the rate of well-off and rich households is 51.9%. Every year, over 95% of the Veterans Association organizations complete their tasks well, with no weak organizations.

Spread the emulation movement, create a united community

Along with the task of economic development, the Veterans Association at all levels continues to widely implement emulation movements and major campaigns such as: "All people unite to build a cultural life", "Building new rural areas and civilized urban areas", "All people protect national security", "Bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe, civilized"...

Notably, the "Exemplary Veterans" movement continues to be the focus, creating a strong influence in the community and attracting a large number of members to participate.

With a core role at the grassroots level, the Association has built and maintained 82 models and advanced examples in the movement "All people protect national security", contributing to maintaining security and order, preventing crimes and social evils.

The war veteran force has become an important support in propaganda, reconciliation, grasping the situation and handling arising problems right from villages, hamlets and residential groups.

The movements of “Self-managed road”, “War veterans protect the environment”, “Model road” continue to be effectively implemented. Members have contributed more than 7.7 billion VND, 7 million working days and 73,000 m² of land for community projects and works.

In Thong Nhat ward, Mr. Pham Xuan Vinh - Chairman of the Ward Veterans Association - said: The Association is maintaining 23 loyal groups and teams with 115 members in 21 residential groups and 2 villages.

This is the core force in propaganda, reconciliation and conflict resolution in the community; at the same time, closely coordinate with the Ward Police to effectively implement the model of "Self-management team on security and order", "Safe inter-family team", raising awareness of vigilance and crime prevention among the people.

In Vinh Son commune, war veteran members also played a pioneering role in building new rural areas. Mr. Le Van Dieu, Chairman of the War Veterans Association, said that during the last term, members donated 120 square meters of land; participated in repairing and upgrading more than 2.5 kilometers of rural roads and building 1.5 kilometers of new canals; and mobilized the demolition of 12 illegally built houses.

The local "Lighting up the countryside roads" movement recognized the key contribution of the war veterans, with the installation and addition of 5 new solar and LED lights on mountain passes, contributing to ensuring safety for people when traveling at night.

Fostering the tradition of patriotism and civic responsibility

In addition to economic development activities and maintaining social order, gratitude work is always carried out by the War Veterans Association at all levels in the province with a profound and persistent spirit.

During its term, the Association presented 254 savings books and thousands of gifts to war invalids, martyrs' relatives and poor students; coordinated the organization of "Lighting candles in gratitude" activities; participated in searching for and collecting martyrs' remains; and cared for and restored cemeteries with thousands of working days.

Traditional education is emphasized. All levels of the Union coordinate to organize propaganda and education on patriotism and revolutionary ideals for union members and youth; support youth in vocational training and job search; participate in life skills training and ideological orientation.

The Association has received and educated 2,573 backward youth; mobilized young people to join the army; provided career counseling for demobilized soldiers; and mobilized young people to actively participate in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas...

Affirming the key goals in the coming time, Chairman of the Provincial War Veterans Association Pham Manh Hung emphasized: The Association at all levels will continue to innovate the content and methods of operation; build a team of Association officials who are brave, responsible, dare to think and dare to do; replicate good models and effective methods.

The entire Association is determined to promote the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", unite, set an example, and make practical contributions to political stability, socio-economic development, and build an increasingly rich and beautiful homeland.
