On May 14th, a representative from LOTTE Vietnam stated that recently, numerous personal and organizational accounts impersonating LOTTE Mart supermarket employees have been appearing on social media. These individuals are calling and befriending many people via Facebook, Zalo, Telegram, etc., and announcing customer appreciation programs, rewards, gifts, and job recruitment at LOTTE Mart. Subsequently, these individuals request victims to transfer a deposit to participate in recruitment and receive appreciation gifts.
To further convince customers, the fraudsters also sent a notice signed and stamped with the seal of LOTTE Vietnam for customers' reference. The notice stated, "Adding the bank account number of LOTTE Vietnam Commercial Center Joint Stock Company."

The fraudsters even created fake notification documents to send to customers.
However, many people, after receiving calls and messages inviting them to participate in customer appreciation programs, reward giveaways, gift giveaways, job recruitment, etc., became wary and called LOTTE Mart's customer service department to verify the information and avoid falling into the scam.
In response to the increasingly sophisticated impersonation and fraud schemes that are causing harm and losses to customers, LOTTE Vietnam has posted a warning about this fraudulent activity on its website lottemart.com.vn.

A scam warning has been posted on the website lottemart.com.vn.
LOTTE Mart affirms that all official promotions, customer appreciation programs, customer care services, lucky draws, etc., of this supermarket chain are only communicated/informed to customers through the company's official channels.
"LOTTE Mart does not recruit for work-from-home positions; does not require advance payments or deposits for any position; and does not require any form of bank transfer to personal accounts for any purpose," – LOTTE Mart's announcement stated.
At the same time, please note that customers should not accept information from individuals or unofficial channels impersonating LOTTE Mart; be vigilant to avoid unfortunate incidents. If you do receive information, do not pay a deposit when applying for jobs; do not provide passwords/OTP to that person. Do not fulfill any purchase requests to increase product engagement.
Previously, several large supermarket chains have also been targeted by individuals impersonating Co.opmart to invite customers to participate in recruitment drives or receive thank-you gifts. Most recently, in March 2024, through the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, the Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Cooperative Union ( Saigon Co.op ) warned that the phenomenon of impersonating Co.opmart to commit fraud was resurfacing.
A representative from Saigon Co.op stated that the scammers have devised many sophisticated scenarios to exploit customers' desire for promotional gifts or thank-you gifts. In some cases, the scammers send real gifts (of low value) as "bait" to build trust with the victims.
In subsequent instances, the scammers used various excuses, requesting victims to transfer money to an account, provide personal information, bank account numbers, etc., in order to receive more valuable gifts or link rewards, and then stole the money.

A fraudulent message inviting customers to receive gifts from Co.opmart was sent to them.
