Given the increasing number of flu cases and the risk of serious complications, people in Ho Chi Minh City have proactively gotten flu vaccinations to protect their health. Observations at vaccination centers in Ho Chi Minh City, such as the Pasteur Institute, VNVC Vaccination Center, andFPT Long Chau Vaccination Center, show that the number of people coming for seasonal flu vaccinations has increased many times compared to before Tet (Lunar New Year).
While waiting to be monitored after his vaccination at the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Phung Duong Thanh, a resident of Tan Binh District (Ho Chi Minh City), shared: “I had previously received the flu vaccine but did not maintain the annual booster shot schedule. However, after reading warnings about many cases of severe flu complications and worrying about the potential spread of the flu, my family members and I decided to get vaccinated against the flu for peace of mind.”

According to Dr. Dinh Van Thoi, Head of the Vaccination Clinic at the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, the number of people coming for vaccinations during the recent Lunar New Year holiday was not high. However, after the holiday, the demand for flu vaccines increased by more than 20% due to people's desire to protect their health during the transitional season.
Currently, the flu vaccine is an effective preventive measure, can be administered year-round, and should be repeated annually to maintain immunity. This vaccine is for everyone, especially high-risk groups such as young children, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases. Regarding vaccine supply, the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City is ensuring sufficient supply, so people do not need to worry about shortages. In case of a sudden surge in demand, the Institute will have appropriate adjustment plans.
Therefore, Dr. Thoi said that although the demand for flu vaccinations is increasing, people do not need to worry too much or rush to get vaccinated at the same time to avoid overloading medical facilities.
Similarly, the VNVC vaccination system also recorded a significant increase in the number of people coming to get seasonal flu vaccines. Dr. Bach Thi Chinh, Medical Director of the VNVC vaccination system, said that based on data from nearly 220 VNVC vaccination centers nationwide, the number of customers proactively getting flu vaccines has increased tenfold compared to normal days.
"The majority of people coming for vaccinations include children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions. Many families have come to VNVC for vaccinations, including large families of more than 20 members getting vaccinated together. Although we received a much higher number of people than usual, we always prioritize vaccination safety, ensuring vaccine quality and high effectiveness in preventing disease after vaccination, and we are committed to not increasing vaccine prices," shared Dr. Bach Thi Chinh.
