In the first week after Tet holiday, some schools flexibly continue to let students study online.
Typically at Hoa Sen University , the Lunar New Year holiday for students is from January 23 (December 24) to February 5 (the 8th day of the Lunar New Year). Students will return to school from February 6 (the 9th day of the Lunar New Year) online until February 8 (January 11). Students will study in person from February 10.
Many universities in Ho Chi Minh City are still giving students Tet holiday during the week from February 3 (6th day of Lunar New Year) to February 9 (12th of January). The following week, students will also be able to study online.
For example, MSc. Nguyen Thai Chau - Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department, University of Finance - Marketing - said that the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students at the school is from January 25 (December 26) to February 9 (January 12), 2 weeks and 2 days long.
The week following the school’s Lunar New Year break, students will study online, from February 10 to February 16. Students will return to school in person on Monday, February 17.
Previously, the week before the school’s Lunar New Year holiday (January 20 to January 24), students were also able to study online. According to Mr. Chau, this arrangement was to reduce the pressure of transportation and commuting for students during Tet.

Similarly, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry - said that students will officially have Tet holiday from January 20 (December 21) to February 9 (January 12).
At the same time, students can study online one week before Tet holiday (from January 13 to January 19) and one week after the holiday (from February 10 to February 16). Thanks to that, students can conveniently arrange their travel schedule to return to Ho Chi Minh City to study.
MSc. Cu Xuan Tien - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department of the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - informed that the school's students will also study online one week before (January 20 to January 26) and one week after the school's Tet holiday (February 10 to February 16). Students will start studying in person again from February 17.
Less summer, more Tet for students
Meanwhile, some universities do not arrange online learning but in return give students a longer Tet holiday.
MSc. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade - said that students of the school will have Tet holiday from January 20 (December 21) to February 16 (January 19), almost a full month.
According to Mr. Son, to arrange a longer Tet holiday for students, the school shortened the summer semester by one week to seven weeks instead of the usual eight weeks.
Lac Hong University students are given plenty of time off before and after Tet. For example, students in the 2023 class will have 6 weeks off for Tet, starting before New Year’s Day (December 28) until February 10. Students in the 2024 class will have 5 weeks off for Tet, from January 4 to February 10.
Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, principal of the school, said that the school flexibly allocates summer vacation and Tet holiday for students. A longer Tet holiday also means a shorter summer vacation to ensure training progress.
