This year's harvest season, commercially farmed clams are priced from 21,000 to 30,000 VND/kg. With an average yield of 20 tons per hectare, farmers can earn between 150 and 200 million VND/hectare, creating a joyful atmosphere for the people in the coastal area. Clam farming in Go Cong has developed steadily over the years, contributing to job creation for thousands of workers. Each year, this area provides livelihoods for approximately 100,000 laborers.
During the harvest season alone, the area attracts 3,000 to 3,500 people participating in clam harvesting, with an average income of 50,000–60,000 VND per hour. Currently, out of the total farming area, 330 hectares have been certified ASC – an international standard for responsible aquaculture. This is the 4th clam farming area in Vietnam and the 4th in the world to achieve this certification. Establishing a management and exploitation area according to MSC standards and achieving ASC certification helps to increase the value of commercial clams, while also opening up a sustainable development direction, linked to the clam harvesting tourism model that is attracting tourists.
