At the scene, dozens of apple orchards were uprooted, many electric poles and rice fields were swept away by the floodwaters and buried in thick mud. Many houses were submerged in mud 20-30 cm deep, with furniture severely damaged.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ho, a resident of village 2, said in tears: "Everything is ruined. Hundreds of tons of rice that were just harvested were submerged in water, and all belongings were swept away, leaving nothing behind."

Apple orchards in harvest season drift away with the water

According to initial statistics, many areas of agricultural land and crops in Tuy Tinh 1, Tuy Tinh 2 and village 2 were severely affected. The initial cause was determined to be due to prolonged heavy rain, combined with the broken reservoir of Viet Phong Phu Farm Trading Company Limited, plus steep terrain and small drainage system, causing water to quickly rush downstream, causing flooding, landslides and damage to a number of irrigation works and rural roads.

The locality also established 6 working groups in charge of checking the cause, calculating the damage, repairing infrastructure, logistics and disinfecting, helping people to soon stabilize their lives.
