On the morning of November 22nd, Meritorious Artist Do Ky expressed his deep sadness after nearly two years of retirement only to receive a notification from the Department of Performing Arts dated November 21st stating that the Central Emulation and Commendation Board had submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister to temporarily postpone his application for the title of People's Artist due to a complaint and opinion from the Ministry of Public Security ; he did not meet the conditions and standards for consideration for the 10th award of the title of People's Artist.
Meritorious Artist Do Ky was not considered for the title of People's Artist because his application was withheld due to a complaint filed against him.
Speaking to the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, Meritorious Artist Do Ky said that he had not received any information about any complaints or petitions regarding his application.
"I am very sad. I am fortunate to have a job I love and to strive to do my best; I am content with that, not coveting fame or titles, yet there are still people who are jealous and envious," said Meritorious Artist Do Ky.
He also said that the announcement from the Department of Performing Arts shocked him.
"I was shocked, because this was the first time someone had shown concern for me through a formal letter at such a sensitive time. After more than 40 years in the profession, I've never been in a position where I had the power to make decisions, so why would they pay attention to me? And now someone is sending me a letter asking me to have the police investigate," the famous artist shared.

He also stated that he currently wants to know and clarify all the contents of the petition to ensure that his reputation and honor are not affected.
"I disagree with the document sent to me. If the letter about me is untrue, would the person who wrote it be guilty of defamation? Or is it simply a matter of sending letters everywhere just because you dislike someone? Right now, my biggest concern is where and to whom I should appeal? Which agency will be the one to make the judgment?" - artist Do Ky expressed.
