Designer Thuy Nguyen brings the lyrics of 'Da Co Hoai Lang' into the new collection

The two concluding lines of the poem Da Co Hoai Lang seem to open up a wish for complete happiness in marriage by the late artist Cao Van Lau. This is also the inspiration for designer Thuy Nguyen to create a new collection for the wedding season of couples. Her “brainchild” was recently introduced at the Vietnam International Fashion Week 2024 held in Hanoi.

Not only exploiting the cultural strengths of the Ao Dai and the lyrics of Vietnamese values, but in the collection "Swallows in Pair", Thuy Nguyen also brings the intersection between the once glorious beauty of the East and the West and the contemporary nature of the Ao Dai that has been honored throughout the history of the nation.

Still using the traditional ao dai, the designer has incorporated details such as lace borders, as a way to recall the Lemur ao dai - artist Cat Tuong's creation of ao dai innovation in the last century.

These designs are both traditional and modern, suitable for the vibrant and ever-evolving pace of contemporary fashion. The large crowns help the wearer become a gorgeous and outstanding bride on the big day.

Thuy does not forget to develop her strengths which are interesting perspectives on colors such as white, red, pink... The sophistication of the ao dai is also shown through vivid paintings of the charming natural landscapes of Vietnam, encapsulating the quintessence of the nation.

Thuy Nguyen is also very delicate when aiming at eternal love in marriage, as a blessing to couples in the language of fashion. This is clearly shown by the motifs of birds, phoenixes, along with images of peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, lotus flowers... attached and hand-embroidered on the skirts of the couple's Swallows.

Finally, it is the Vietnamese beauty of two beauty queens representing two different generations of women in modern life: Le Hang (in pink and white ao dai) and Lam Bich Tuyen (in yellow ao dai). The gentle and graceful performance with the strides on the runway of the two beauties contributed to a successful performance for Thuy Nguyen's show.
