Female doctor becomes Chairwoman of AmCham Vietnam

Dr. Dam Thi Hoang Lan, Director of External Relations of MSD Vietnam, has just been elected as the new chairwoman of AmCham Vietnam.

On January 10, the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham Vietnam) - one of the largest foreign business associations in Vietnam with 3,150 members - announced that Dr. Dam Thi Hoang Lan, director of external affairs at MSD Vietnam, has just been elected as the new chairwoman of AmCham Vietnam.

Ms. Dam Thi Hoang Lan took over the chairwoman position from Mr. Ramachandran AS (RamC), Country Director of Citibank in Vietnam.

Ms. Lan graduated from Hanoi Medical University, National Economics University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law and Cambridge University (UK), holds many degrees from bachelor, doctor, master of science, doctorate and has 25 years of experience in the health care industry.

The female doctor has participated in many medical projects and programs, contributing to policy development to increase patient access to advanced treatments at many different organizations, including the Ministry of Health .

She joined MSD Vietnam in 2016, responsible for policy and government relations, market access and communications. MSD - the abbreviation of Merck Sharp & Dohme (known as Merck & Co in the US and Canada) is a leading global pharmaceutical and biotechnology group with 130 years of development, headquartered in the US.

Before becoming the new Chairwoman of AmCham Vietnam, Ms. Lan participated in the association's leadership for 4 consecutive years (2022 - 2025).

"Taking on the position of chairperson for the 2025 term of AmCham Vietnam, I consider this not only a great honor but also an important responsibility," Ms. Lan shared.

For the 2025 term, AmCham Vietnam also elected Mr. James Meffen, CFO of AES Vietnam and Mr. Philip Ziter, Senior Associate of Russin & Vecchi, as two vice presidents. In addition, Jesse Boone, Director of Facilities Development, Fulbright University Vietnam, and Le Thi Thanh, Senior Attorney at Baker & McKenzie, will serve as treasurer and secretary, respectively.
