23,000 athletes participate in running during Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2025

The 8th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon is one of the key activities within the framework of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2025, contributing to the implementation of the orientation of tourism development associated with sports and culture.

The event took place under the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Department of Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports , and Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation.

Accordingly, the official running day of the 8th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon will take place in the early morning of December 7, expected to welcome more than 23,000 domestic and international athletes, an increase of more than 30% compared to 2024 and more than 5 times compared to the first season.

The race spreads the message "Run for a superior Vietnam", passing through 17 iconic landmarks of the city, including: Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Ba Son Bridge, City Post Office , and many modern riverside routes.

Notably, this year's race also brings together top Vietnamese and international athletes such as: Nguyen Van Lai, Pham Thi Hong Le, Hua Thuan Long, Dang Anh Quyet, Edwin Kiptoo, Lilan Kennedy, Birehan Marta.

The season also marked many steps forward. That is, the continued certification of the race track by AIMS and the Vietnam Athletics Federation as meeting international distance standards, ensuring global standards.

Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu spoke at the opening ceremony of the race.

Taking place within the framework of the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week with the theme “Lively Festival Season”, the Marathon Village of the Race is arranged as a miniature cultural and tourism experience space, introducing the city’s unique features to athletes and visitors. Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu said that the 8th Techcombank Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon is a journey to promote the image of a dynamic and friendly city to domestic and foreign tourists, through each step of the athletes.

"The tournament being held within the framework of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Week 2025 affirms the orientation of tourism development associated with sports and culture, one of the important pillars in the strategy of building the city into an international tourist super city. The Department of Tourism will continue to coordinate closely with departments, branches and organizing committees to ensure preparations, towards a green, sustainable and worth-experiencing destination," said Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu.

Accompanying many charity activities

This year's season also contributes to spreading human values ​​when accompanying many volunteer and social security activities. Donations are sent to organizations and programs such as: Supporting people in localities affected by storms and floods; Ho Chi Minh City "For the Poor" Fund; Ho Chi Minh City Association for Supporting Poor Patients; Vo Hong Son Center for Children with Disabilities; Human resource training activities in the tourism industry; Ho Chi Minh City Sports Talent Support Fund; Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation; Fund from the "Run for the Future of Vietnamese Children" Online Run and activities to support training and develop tourism development policies.

In particular, the online race "Run for the future of Vietnamese children" attracted more than 21,000 athletes, recorded over 440,000 valid km and contributed more than 4.2 billion VND to the Touch of Love Fund.
