In an interview with Kom Chad Luek on October 27, the famous chef said she plans to retire and may close her "legendary" restaurant as early as 2025.

According to Jay, this decision was made because the increasingly competitive market was making the business more difficult. She has now scaled back operations and is gradually ceasing to run the business altogether.

Jay's shop is currently open from Wednesday to Saturday.

"It's really difficult. When the ingredients arrive early in the morning, I have to get up and check them myself. If they don't meet the standards, I return them," she shared.

With increasingly fierce competition, many vendors are willing to invest in "high-priced" raw materials, leaving Jay in a situation where it's "difficult to find good prices."

The 81-year-old chef's decision has left many tourists and food lovers feeling regretful.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, representing the Tourism Authority of Thailand, stated: "It would be a great pity if Ms. Jay Fai were to retire, as her restaurant is famous not only in Thailand but also abroad."

Jay Fai stated that she has no intention of handing over the restaurant to her daughter. However, she would still be happy to share her recipes and provide guidance to anyone who wants to learn.
