On the morning of April 21, veteran athlete Pham Thi Hue (rowing) brought home another ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics for Vietnamese sports in the women's heavyweight single sculls. This was the predicted result after Pham Thi Hue passed the first round to participate in the final round of the qualifying round.
In the final round of the women's heavyweight single sculls qualifying event, there were 6 athletes from Vietnam, Singapore, Philippines, Japan, Iran, Uzbekistan and the Organizing Committee took the top 5 to the 2024 Paris Olympics. With such a great opportunity, Pham Thi Hue successfully took advantage of it to finish in the top 5, thereby winning the right to go to the Olympics in France.
This will be the first time Pham Thi Hue has qualified for the Olympics. Previously, in 2016 and 2020, this athlete met the Olympic standards, but because each country was only allowed to participate in one event, Hue had to miss the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
Thus, Vietnamese Sports has 9 places to attend the Paris Olympics: Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxing), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting), Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton), Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (Rowing).
In addition, the case of Le Duc Phat (badminton) is almost certain to have a ticket to France. This athlete is only waiting for official confirmation from the IOC and BWF in the next few days.
