On January 21, the Go Vap District Police (Ho Chi Minh City) issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspects, and order the arrest and temporary detention of two men named MT, who are twin brothers (both 32 years old, from Tien Giang province), to investigate the crime of possessing explosive materials.
The above decisions and orders have been approved by the People's Procuratorate of Go Vap District.
Police discovered a warehouse containing half a ton of explosive precursors in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City.
Earlier, the Go Vap District Police, in coordination with relevant units, raided a house on Pham Van Chieu Street (Ward 16) and discovered nearly 500 kg of chemicals classified as explosive precursors, nearly 100 meters of slow-burning fuse, nearly 900 kg of plastic ball casings, about 1 ton of cylindrical cardboard tubes, 275 packaged orders ready for delivery to various locations nationwide, and numerous documents and machinery suspected of being used for the illegal production of firecrackers. All of the goods were of unknown origin.
At the police station, the two suspects confessed that they had learned about the demand for fireworks, so they went online to learn how to make them, bought the materials, and then resold them to customers to profit from the price difference.
The police determined that the chemicals seized from the warehouse, when mixed according to a specific formula and ratio, would produce explosives.
The case is currently being investigated further by the Go Vap District Police, who are consolidating the evidence and expanding the investigation to handle the matter according to regulations.
