According to information published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease , this study provides new insights into the relationship between vaccines and brain health. Previously, scientists found that people who received the flu vaccine had a 40% lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease compared to those who did not receive the vaccine. In the latest study, scientists continued to evaluate and monitor people aged 65 and older, focusing on the following vaccines: Tdap/Td (for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), shingles, and pneumococcal vaccine.

The results were clear: Those vaccinated with Tdap/Td had a 30% lower risk of Alzheimer's disease; vaccination against shingles and pneumococcal disease showed reduced risks of 25% and 27%, respectively.
Accordingly, scientists believe that vaccines could reduce overall inflammation in the body or help the immune system fight infections that can accelerate cognitive decline.
