According to information from the Provincial Market Management Department, from October 1st to October 31st, market management forces discovered 4 vehicles transporting animal offal that did not meet food safety and hygiene standards, with a total quantity of 584kg, in Lam Thao and Phu Ninh districts and Viet Tri city.

Authorities have detected and penalized four vehicle owners transporting offal and food products that do not meet food safety and hygiene standards.

Authorities supervised the destruction of 209kg of animal organs that did not meet food safety and hygiene standards, which were discovered on October 24th by Mr. Tran Thai Tho, a driver and owner of Thanh Mieu ward, Viet Tri city.

To strengthen inspection and control of the business and transportation of food products of unknown origin and not meeting food safety and hygiene standards throughout the province, the Market Management Force, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police, and the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, inspected and discovered four vehicles driven by Mr. Phan Thanh Tuan (Viet Xuan commune, Vinh Tuong district, Vinh Phuc province); Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung (Phuong Khoan commune, Song Lo district, Vinh Phuc province); Mr. Le Tien Quang (Tien Cat ward, Viet Tri city); and Mr. Tran Thai Tho (Thanh Mieu ward, Viet Tri city), who were also the owners of the goods, transporting 120kg, 140kg, 115kg, and 209kg of food products respectively, en route to be sold.

During the inspection, the food items, consisting of frozen animal offal from buffalo, cows, and pigs, were found to be emitting a foul odor, discolored, and leaking liquid, posing a health risk to humans. At the time of the inspection, the drivers, who were also the owners of the goods, could not present documents proving the origin of the goods and admitted that the animal offal had been purchased from various sources in the market and then sold to restaurants and eateries that needed it.

Market Management Teams No. 2 and No. 8 have issued four administrative penalty decisions for the violation of transporting animal products that do not meet veterinary hygiene and food safety requirements for commercial purposes. Each vehicle was fined 10,000,000 VND. The total administrative penalty amounted to 40,000,000 VND; at the same time, they coordinated with relevant agencies to supervise and ordered the destruction of all the animal organs.
