The People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province has just released information on the handling of the case involving a group of students from Van Phu Secondary School (Son Duong district) who insulted a female teacher, causing public outrage at the end of November 2023.
According to the announcement, immediately after the incident occurred, the authorities of Van Phu commune and the school held a meeting with parents and students from the classes involved to clarify the violations.
Through the investigation, the task force found that Ms. PTH - the teacher who was cornered and insulted by students - made inappropriate remarks to colleagues and students, and her language and behavior were unsuitable.

"Specifically, in the incident that occurred on November 29, 2023, Ms. PTH herself made offensive remarks and chased after students with a shoe, waving her hand at them. These actions violated the ethics of a teacher and seriously and negatively affected the image of teachers and the educational environment," the report stated.
Based on the above violations, the People's Committee of Son Duong District decided to issue a warning to Ms. PTH.
In addition, the People's Committee of Son Duong district requested the school to remind, support, and assist the students in overcoming their shortcomings; at the same time, apply disciplinary measures such as reprimand, notify parents, and temporarily suspend their studies for one week.
Regarding the incident, the task force determined that Mr. Nguyen Duy Sang, the school principal, did not properly direct or handle the matter within his assigned authority, resulting in the student insulting the honor, dignity, and physical integrity of teacher PTH.
Mr. Sang also failed to report the incident to the authorities in a timely manner, leading to students sharing and posting videos of the incident on social media, causing public outrage.
Following the incident, the People's Committee of Son Duong District decided to issue a warning and transfer Mr. Sang to another position; at the same time, it requested the school's leadership to conduct a self-criticism and draw profound lessons from the experience within the leadership and management team.
The People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province also reported that the situation at Van Phu Secondary School is now stable, and teaching and learning are proceeding normally. In the coming time, Son Duong district will continue to monitor and direct efforts to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
In late November 2023, two videos surfaced on social media showing a group of students cornering their teacher in the classroom, threatening her and verbally abusing her. Faced with the disrespectful behavior of the male students, the female teacher did not dare to resist but only used her phone to record the incident.
The incident reportedly occurred on November 29, 2023, at Van Phu Junior High School (Son Duong - Tuyen Quang) during a Music class in class 7C. During the lesson, several students asked to leave the classroom, but Ms. H. refused. A disagreement then arose between the teacher and the students during class.
However, after the lesson, some students in class 7C made inappropriate remarks and behaved improperly towards Ms. H., such as using foul language, insulting the teacher, recording videos, and posting them on Facebook.
Immediately after the incident occurred, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a document requesting the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province to direct relevant units to investigate, verify the information, and resolve the matter.
