Within the framework of the State visit to Vietnam of the French President and his wife, on the afternoon of May 26, at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, received Ms. Brigitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Previously, on the walk from the Temple of Literature to the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly introduced to Mrs. Brigitte Macron the ancient architecture and scenery of the capital.

In the museum's exhibition space, Madam Ngo Phuong Ly introduced to Madam Brigitte Macron many works of art, reflecting the cultural identity and historical depth of the Vietnamese people.

Among them, the most prominent are 9 national treasures of Vietnam such as: Statue of Bodhisattva Guanyin (16th century), statue of Queen Trinh Thi Ngoc Truc...; paintings "Two young women and a baby" (famous painter To Ngoc Van), "Em Thuy" (famous painter Tran Van Can); traditional lacquer works and modern paintings bearing strong national imprints. The two ladies listen to an introduction to the statue of Amitabha Buddha.

The two ladies also admired the work "Screen" by famous painter Nguyen Gia Tri. The screen consists of 8 panels, with two works of art on each side.

The two ladies expressed their impressions of the painting "Em Thuy" by author Tran Van Can - this is not only an outstanding portrait masterpiece of modern Vietnamese painting but also a symbol of the beauty of Vietnamese culture.

The painting "Little Thuy" makes a striking impression, attracting viewers with its wide-open black eyes, looking straight at the person opposite. Few people know that it is the innocent, direct eyes of a little Vietnamese girl expressed through the painting, along with the magical harmony in the soul, that became the inspiration for musician Paul Zetter to compose a musical work called "Little Thuy's Minuet" and he donated it to the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts in 2024.

In the space displaying the work "Em Thuy," the song "Little Thuy's Minuet" by musician Paul Zetter was played melodiously by the female violinist, causing many emotions for the two ladies and the audience.

At the Museum, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly directly introduced some of the exhibited works to Mrs. Brigitte Macron.

The French President's wife repeatedly expressed her impression of the works on display; sincerely thanked Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly for her warm welcome in a cultural space rich in Vietnamese identity./.
