Ms. Le Nguyen Khanh Diep's idea for producing concentrated natural shampoo, Moc Dong, is one of 14 outstanding ideas that reached the finals of the "Ha Tinh Women Starting Businesses - Promoting Local Resources" competition in 2022.

These days, contestants with ideas that have reached the finals of the "Ha Tinh Women's Entrepreneurship - Promoting Local Resources 2023" competition are actively preparing to enter the final round.

Ms. Le Nguyen Khanh Diep (born in 1996, Cam Ha commune, Cam Xuyen district) shared: “Having followed the “Women's Entrepreneurship Ideas Competition 2022”, I felt it was a very meaningful platform for women with dreams and aspirations to start production and business. Therefore, this year, right after the women's associations at all levels launched the competition, I planned to participate. Especially with the theme “Ha Tinh Women Starting Businesses - Developing Local Resources”, I felt my idea was very suitable, which is to produce herbal shampoo products, made from ingredients readily available in my hometown.”

Ms. Diep graduated with a Master's degree in Psychology from the Academy of Educational Management (Hanoi) in 2020 and worked briefly in the capital city. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, she returned to her hometown. Recognizing the potential of readily available herbal ingredients in her hometown as well as the growing demand for natural products in the market, she decided to learn, research, and produce herbal shampoo.

Leveraging local resources in production is the main theme of this year's competition.

After numerous setbacks, Ms. Diep has now successfully produced Moc Dong herbal shampoo, concentrated from ingredients such as soapberry, lemon, soapnut, lemongrass, etc. Along with selling the product on the market, Ms. Diep has also developed a raw material source to ensure long-term production. With a 37,000 farm, she has now planted 800 soapberry trees, along with hundreds of trees of various oranges, lemons, pomelos, guavas, and fields of lemongrass and lantana flowers... She has also partnered with local people to expand the raw material production area.

During the "Ha Tinh Women's Entrepreneurship - Promoting Local Resources 2023" competition, her startup idea for a concentrated natural shampoo product called Moc Dong was highly rated and reached the final round. Along with training courses on project development from the Provincial Women's Union throughout the competition, Ms. Diep is now eagerly preparing her slide presentation for the final round.

Members of the THT Organic Rice Production Cooperative in Van Cuu village (Khanh Vinh Yen, Can Loc) are delighted after achieving high results in the summer-autumn crop.

Along with individual startup ideas, this year's competition also received many startup ideas and projects from cooperatives and associations run by women. Among them, the organic rice production idea from the women members of the Van Cuu village cooperative (Khanh Vinh Yen commune, Can Loc district) was considered highly promising.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hieu, President of the Khanh Vinh Yen Women's Union and a member of the Cooperative, said: "With the desire to exploit the local advantages in agricultural production - mainly rice cultivation, our idea is to bring high-quality organic rice products, ensuring safety for people, while increasing income for farmers per unit area."

The organic rice production model of the Van Cuu village women's cooperative, comprising 40 members, in collaboration with Que Lam Group, strictly applies a completely biological production process, implemented since June 2023. With a cultivated area of 2 hectares, the first summer-autumn rice crop yielded 10 tons of rice, approximately equal to that of conventional production methods.

It is estimated that 10 tons of fresh paddy will yield 4.55 tons of rice. With an expected selling price of 30,000 VND/kg, this will generate an income of over 136 million VND, three times higher than traditional rice production methods. At this time, after harvesting, the rice is still in the drying stage, but THT's planned supply of organic rice has already been almost entirely ordered by customers.

Members of the THT organic rice production cooperative in Van Cuu village discussed their ideas for the final round of the "Ha Tinh Women's Entrepreneurship - Developing Local Resources" competition with officials from the Can Loc District Women's Union.

The Ha Tinh Women's Entrepreneurship Competition - Leveraging Local Resources, launched in March 2023, aims to find promising business and production startup ideas and projects led by women that are economically efficient and contribute to preserving, developing, and enhancing local resources (available and unique resources of the localities). The goal is to provide support and investment to realize production, improve product quality, and promote brand recognition in the market.

Participants include female members with ideas, projects, models, and products manufactured or sold throughout the province. For collectives, production and business activities must have started no more than 5 years prior to registration.

After six months of launching the competition and going through the preliminary rounds at the district level, the Provincial Women's Union received 75 ideas. After the judging process, the organizing committee selected 14 promising ideas to advance to the final round. Throughout the competition, the Provincial Women's Union also organized many training programs to improve the knowledge and skills of women in developing, refining, and presenting their ideas.

The final round and awards ceremony of the competition are expected to take place in early October 2023.

Following the success of the "Women's Entrepreneurship Ideas Competition 2022," this year's competition received enthusiastic participation from women's associations at all levels throughout the province. In addition to an increase in the number of entries, the quality of ideas, projects, and models has improved, diversifying in fields, demonstrating high feasibility, and presenting them with increasing professionalism.

In particular, many ideas closely adhered to the theme "Ha Tinh Women Starting Businesses - Leveraging Local Resources" to build production and business models based on the advantages of available resources or the unique potential of the locality. This is one of the important criteria set forth by the competition."
