According to digital travel platform Booking.com, demand for travel during the New Year holiday increased sharply due to the holiday falling close to the weekend. The unit reported that the number of hotel room searches from October 1 to November 15 with check-in dates from December 20, 2025 to January 5, 2026 showed that Phu Quoc was the most popular destination, with an increase of 86% compared to the same period last year.
Followed by Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi - bustling cities with a series of events to welcome Christmas and New Year.
Coastal cities such as Da Nang , Nha Trang, Vung Tau, and Mui Ne continue to be popular choices for short relaxing vacations, while Hoi An and Sa Pa attract groups of tourists who want to immerse themselves in local culture and the typical cold air at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Bangkok (Thailand), Tokyo (Japan) and Seoul (South Korea) are the three most searched international destinations during the festive season. Bangkok is attractive for its series of exciting year-end events, including the 33rd SEA Games; Tokyo and Seoul stand out for their unique festive atmosphere and winter experiences such as onsen bathing, skiing, etc.
Sharing with Tri Thuc - Znews , many travel companies said that the demand for booking tours to Northeast Asia during Christmas and New Year is increasing sharply, and groups departing during this period are almost fully booked.
Ms. Tran Thi Bao Thu, Marketing and Communications Director of Vietluxtour, said that the number of customers booking tours during this year's festival season increased by 15-20% compared to the same period last year. Japan and South Korea are especially attractive to visitors thanks to their winter experiences, while Thailand - a traditional destination - continues to be the top favorite because of its proximity and reasonable cost.
Taipei (China) ranked 4th, followed by Hong Kong (China), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). Chiang Mai (Thailand) ranked 9th thanks to its fresh mountain scenery, the typical cool air at the end of the year and a series of cultural festivals lasting throughout December.
