Phu Tho chooses contractor to build road connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway with Tuyen Quang

In the third quarter of 2024, the investment project for the connecting route between the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway and the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway, with the Phu Tho Provincial Department of Transport as the investor, began publicly announcing the contractor selection plan.

Approved by the Ministry of Transport in early June 2024 with Decision No. 699/QD-BGTVT, the investment project for the connecting route between the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway and the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway has a total investment of over 692 billion VND, with the Phu Tho Provincial Department of Transport assigned as the investor.

According to the contractor selection plan recently published by the investor, 16 bidding packages will have contractors selected in the third quarter of 2024. However, bidding package number 16 will be subject to open bidding and contractor selection will take place in the fourth quarter of 2024.

This project has a total length of over 2.7km and consists of two components: the main expressway and the service road. The starting point connects to the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway, and the end point connects to the existing Ho Chi Minh Highway; with a value of over 509 billion VND and a completion time of 420 days.

The project to connect the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway with the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway, once completed, will enhance operational capacity, reduce traffic accidents, improve investment efficiency on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressways, and gradually complete the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

At the same time, it supports the socio-economic development of Phu Tho province, contributing to the achievement of the goals of Resolution 11-NQ/TW of the Politburo on socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the midland and mountainous regions of Northern Vietnam.

The project is expected to be substantially completed by 2025.
