Eleven police and military schools have announced their 2024 enrollment quotas, with many increasing their numbers by 20-91 students compared to last year.
By early March, six police academies and five military academies had announced their university enrollment quotas.
For police training institutions, the number of new recruits for the Fire Prevention and Fighting University and the People's Police Technical and Logistics University both increased by 40 compared to last year, reaching 140; the People's Security Academy increased by 20. Meanwhile, the People's Security University, the People's Police Academy, and the People's Police Political Academy maintained their quotas.
Police academies allocate 10% of their total enrollment quota to female candidates, similar to last year. Therefore, the increase in the total quota means that the number of female candidates admitted to these schools will also increase.
The enrollment quotas for police academies in 2024 are as follows:
| TT | School | Target | ||
| Male | Female | Total | ||
| 1 | People's Security Academy | 369 | 41 | 410 |
| 2 | People's Police Academy | 477 | 53 | 530 |
| 3 | Firefighting University | 126 | 14 | 140 |
| 4 | People's Public Security Political Academy | 90 | 10 | 100 |
| 5 | People's Security University | 234 | 26 | 260 |
| 6 | People's Public Security Technical and Logistics University | 126 | 14 | 140 |
Police academies have not yet released information on their admission methods, but they are expected to maintain three stable approaches: direct admission, priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Public Security ; admission for candidates with international foreign language certificates; and admission based on a combination of high school graduation exam scores and the Ministry of Public Security's competency assessment exam scores.
Last year, the entrance exam scores for police academies ranged from 14.01 to 24.94. The Party Building and State Administration major at the People's Police Political Academy had the highest entrance score. Female candidates from the North applying to this major had to achieve 24.94 points.
The formula for calculating university entrance exam scores for the Ministry of Public Security is as follows:
Admission score = Total score of three high school graduation exam subjects * 2/5 + Assessment exam score * 3/5 + Priority points as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training + Bonus points for outstanding students at the national level.

Regarding military schools, apart from the Logistics Academy which reduced its enrollment quota by 21, many schools increased theirs. The Army Officer School 2 saw the largest increase – 91 students. This was followed by the Military Technical Academy with 82, and the Engineering Officer School and the Communications Officer School with increases of 24 and 18 respectively. The officer schools do not recruit female students.
Enrollment quotas for military schools in 2024:
| TT | School | Target | ||
| Male | Female | Total | ||
| 1 | Military Technical Academy | 516 | 24 | 540 |
| 2 | Engineering Officer School | 251 | 0 | 251 |
| 3 | Information Officer School | 341 | 0 | 341 |
| 4 | Army Officer School 2 | 532 | 0 | 532 |
| 5 | Logistics Academy | 174 | 4 | 178 |
This year, military schools have added two new admission methods: considering the aptitude test scores of two national universities and considering academic transcripts, in addition to the old methods of direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, admission of outstanding students according to the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense, and admission based on high school graduation exam scores.
Regarding the aptitude test scores, schools allocate approximately 20% of their quotas to this. For admission based on academic transcripts, except for the Military Technical Academy and the Military Medical Academy, the remaining schools will allocate about 10% of their quotas. Candidates need to have an overall GPA of 7 or higher for each year of high school, with a minimum score of 7.5 in the subjects included in the admission test combination.
Currently, the military group consists of 17 schools. In 2023, these schools will enroll nearly 4,400 students. The benchmark score based on the graduation exam results ranges from 16.25 to 27.97. The Military Science Academy has the highest benchmark score. Female candidates applying for the Chinese Language major must achieve a total of 27.97 points in three high school graduation exam subjects to be admitted. The lowest is the Engineering Officer School.
